HERE is currently accepting Dance, Music, Puppetry, and Theatre applications for our 2024 SubletSeries: Co-Op!
About HERE:
Since 1993, HERE has been one of New York’s most prolific arts organizations. Today, it stands at the forefront of the city’s cultural scene, producing and presenting daring, new, multidisciplinary performance experiences. From our home in Lower Manhattan, HERE builds an inclusive community that nurtures artists of all backgrounds as they disrupt conventional expectations to create innovative performances in theatre, dance, music, puppetry, media, and visual art. By providing these genre-blending artists with an adaptive, flexible home for developing and producing their work, we share a range of perspectives reflective of the complexity of our city. HERE welcomes curious audiences to witness groundbreaking performances responsive to the world in which we live at accessible and affordable prices.
About SubletSeries: Co-Op:
Co-Ops are special HERE presentations as part of HERE’s curated SubletSeries rental program, which provides artists with subsidized space and equipment and a technical liaison. This hybrid performance series offers bold artists space for up to one week for 1-2 technical rehearsals and 2-6 performances in our 98-seat Mainstage or 69-seat Dorothy B. Williams (DOT) Theater.
This year’s Co-Op will focus on Dance/Movement based forms, Music, Puppetry, and Theater. This program aims to support the artistic process by providing artists with much-needed resources to put practice into action. Co-Op presentations are curated through an open application process and occur 1-2 times a year when our scheduling allows.
HERE is committed to supporting artists at all stages in their careers. We strongly encourage artists of color, LGBTQ+ artists, immigrant artists, and artists with disabilities to apply. Applications are accepted through an open call process with an aim for applications to be reviewed by a peer committee of artists and community stakeholders in the near future. With this approach, HERE aspires to increase visibility, opportunities, and resources for a more diverse range of artists in the field.
