    • Application and Ad deadline is August 12, 2023
    • Pageant Applications accompanied by required documents must be submitted electronically through JotForm or to Cynthia Graham, 1209 Fulton Avenue, Winthrop Harbor, IL 60096.
    • If dropping off, please place it in dropbox labeled “Winthrop Harbor Pageant” on the front porch.
    • If mailed, pageant application must be postmarked no later than August 12, 2023, and mailed to the address listed above.
    • Dropbox will be checked at 12:01 am on August 13, 2023, for final application submissions.
    • Late applications may be accepted upon director’s approval. A late fee will apply.

    •Miss Contestants: Ages 16-21. Contestant must not turn 22 before the day of the pageant. On the day of the pageant, I will be ______ years old. My birthday is _____________, _______.

  • Competition Outline

  • Personal Interview

    Tiny-Miss 35 possible points

    •This category takes place prior to the pageant.

    •Our panel of judges will interview each contestant in one-on-one interviews. Miss and Junior Miss contestants are required to wear a conservative, business-appropriate outfit. Example: something you would wear to a job or school interview.

    •Little Miss and Tiny Miss should wear a casual but nice sundress or party dress.

    •The judges will use this time to learn about each contestant, her personality, qualities, and attributes.

    •Be positive happy and comfortable! Be real! Be yourself!

    Speech and Communication

    Tiny-Miss 35 possible points

    •Each contestant will be required to deliver a rehearsed and memorized speech.

    •Topic and related time allowed will be given to everyone.

    •Miss Contestants: The winning Miss Contestant will be required to implement her platform throughout her reign during her reign.

    •Contestants are required to wear a conservative dress. This can be the same as worn to an interview or a different dress.

    •Tan shoes are optional but preferred.

    Evening Gown / Pop Question

    Tiny-Miss 30 possible points

    •Each contestant will be required to answer a sealed, pop question on stage, Miss Contestants are required to answer two sealed, pop questions.

    •Contestants will model age-appropriate dresses. Little, Junior, and Miss - full-length dress. Tiny - Full-length dress or tea-length dress.

    •Judges will be looking for stage presence and confidence.

    Crowning

    •Crowning is by category in the following order: Tiny, Little, Junior, Miss.

    •Three awards will be given for each category in the following order: Congeniality, First runner up, and Queen

    •If there are three or less contestants in a category, only Congeniality and Queen will be announced on stage.

     

    ATTIRE AND MAKE-UP GUIDELINES FOR ALL CATEGORIES WILL BE DISCUSSED AT PRACTICE.

  • Age Requirements

    Miss Contestants: Ages 16-21. Contestants must not turn 22 before pageant day.

    Junior Miss Contestants: Ages 10-15. Contestants must not turn 16 before pageant day.

    Little Miss Contestants: Ages 6-9. Contestants must not turn 10 before pageant day.

    Tiny Miss Contestants: Ages 3-5. Contestants must be this age on day of pageant.

    Other Requirements

    • Contestants must be living with a parent/legal guardian who is a resident of the 60096 zip code in Winthrop Harbor for the entirety of their reign. Proof of residency will be required to determine eligibility to compete.
    • Contestant must be female
    • Must not be married, never have been married, and never have had a marriage annulled.
    • Must never have given birth to a child, can not be pregnant or be a parent.
    • Must be a citizen of the United States of America
    • Contestants must never have been convicted of a crime.
    • Can be Queen only once in each category, even if the title was not held for an entire year.
    • Contestants must agree to:
      • Attend all pageant rehearsals and interviews unless academics prohibits or at the discretion of the Pageant Director. Any absences must be approved in advance by the Pageant Director.
      • Appear in conservative dress or other proper attire for judging on stage.
      • Appear in an evening gown or party dress on stage for judging.
      • Prepare a rehearsed speech on stage for judging.
      • Answer pop questions appropriately on stage for judging.
      • Have no visible tattoos, body piercings, and no gauges.
      • Hair must be of natural color. Queens should not dye their hair with fashion colors. If you are concerned about color choices, please consult your Pageant Director. Hair colors will be considered at the Director’s discretion.
      • Must agree to compete in the Lake County Illinois State Pageant (with the exception of Tiny Miss)
      • All contestants must demonstrate good sportsmanship before, during, and after the competition.
    • Any contestant or family member found to be speaking or acting unsportsmanlike to or about other contestants, Pageant Staff or the Pageant itself will be disqualified/removed from position and banned from competing in this and all future Winthrop Harbor Pageants at the Pageant Director’s discretion.
    • If a situation arises that needs attention, bring it to the Pageant Director to be handled appropriately.
    • All contestants agree to give the Pageant Director access (not passwords) to all forms of social media without exception.
    • You need to be mindful of items you post on social media. Should you post inappropriate videos, pictures, or posts the pageant director has the authority to ask you or your family members to take them down.
    • Any unsportsmanlike or inappropriate conduct will NOT be tolerated. Any contestant found to be doing so will be disqualified/removed from position/banned from this and all future Winthrop Harbor Pageants at the Pageant Director’s discretion.

     

    • All contestants agree that all scores are confidential and the decisions of the judges are final. You can, however, ask what comments were made by the judges two weeks after the pageant by email to c.s.graham@comcast.net.
    • ALL TITLE WINNERS 2022/2023– MUST STAY AFTER THE PAGEANT FOR PHOTOS, 2023 QUEENS FOR CLEAN UP.
    • All applications are accepted or denied at the Pageant Director’s discretion.
    • All rules are subject to change at the Pageant Director’s discretion.
    • All contestants and their parents agree to hold harmless the Winthrop Harbor Pageant and all persons affiliated with the Winthrop Harbor Pageant in case of any loss or injury occurring during or in travel to and from this event and any affiliated events.
    • Each contestant agrees to sell one friendship ad of any dollar amount for the pageant program.
    • We agree that contestant meets all the eligibility requirements to be a participant. I and my parent/legal guardian agree that we will follow all rules specified in the program. We agree that if I become a Winthrop Harbor Queen that I can meet the time commitment and responsibilties as set forth below.
    • Attendance requirements: All queens must attend 60% of all events with priority given to Winthrop Harbor events. Special consideration will be given to Tiny Miss who might be too young to attend or make it through many long events.
    • Little Miss and Tiny Miss must be accompanied by parents or guardians to all events without exception. Other Queens will not be allowed to be guardians for a Little Miss or a Tiny Miss as each Queen has her own responsibility at events.
    • The Queens/Families must supply a decorated trailer for all parades.
    • There are additional financial responsibilities that a Queen is personally responsible for. These expenses include but are not limited to: admission fees to pageants/events, travel to and from events, meals/snacks, jackets, event attire, decorations for floats, Lake County Illinois State Pageant Fees, and outgoing stage decorations, etc.

    Congratulations! You have been inducted into a long line of Winthrop Harbor Royalty! 33 Years Strong!
  • Now that you are the Queen, you have accepted the responsibility of representing your Village with the grace becoming of the title bestowed upon you.

    Remember, you are always representing Winthrop Harbor whether wearing your Crown and Sash or not.

    • You agree that all the rules that apply for eligibility apply throughout your reign.
    • You understand that our pageant is financially independent of the Village of Winthrop Harbor and that fundraising is not only important but mandatory. This means organizing, creating, implementing and following through.
    • You agree to participate fully in ALL fundraising events. Also, there will be financial obligations required by Queens to fulfill event requirements.
    • You agree to spend time supporting local businesses and to help encourage local businesses to sponsor the Winthrop Harbor Pageant.
    • Attendance requirements: All queens must attend 60% of all events with priority given to Winthrop Harbor events. Special consideration will be given to Tiny Miss who might be too young to attend or make it through many long events at the discretion of the Pageant Director.
    • The Queens Facebook site will be limited to birth parents and or legal guardians. (Pageant Director's discretion)
    • All Pageant correspondence must stay on the Facebook site. There will be NO group messaging.
    • You agree to represent Winthrop Harbor at various events throughout Lake County unless excused by the Pageant Director. You also agree to be on time and dressed appropriately, including arriving in crown and sash.
    • You agree to always be dressed appropriately when in Crown and Sash.
    • No jeans. Leggings are allowed only when deemed appropriate by the Pageant Director for a specific event.
    • No tennis shoes or flip flops.
    • Dresses and dress shorts must not be shorter than fingertip length when hands held straight down at sides.
    • Hair must be neat and done in an appropriate style. Hair must always be of natural color and must not be dyed or highlighted in fashion colors.
    • Under no circumstances will you ever appear in Crown and Sash with visible tattoos, body piercings, or gauges.
    • Miss only can wear an appropriate two-piece dress only upon Pageant Directors approval.
    • In the event that your conduct is deemed unbecoming by your Pageant Director, you may be asked to leave that event and/or suspended from future events.
    • You agree to follow the directions of your Pageant Director and designated appointees.
    • You agree to NEVER enter any contests and or drawings at events that you are “working” as a Community Service Ambassador.
    • Sash: Your sash must always be kept neat and clean. If you require a replacement sash, one will be provided to you at your expense. You understand that your sash can not be embellished with names, rhinestones, or pins without your Pageant Director’s approval. Violation may result in a replacement sash being purchased at your expense. You will limit pins to an appropriate amount.
    • There may be events friends, boyfriends/partners may attend but keep in mind you are working and a role model to others. Please limit your time and keep in mind there will be no public display of affection.
    • Visiting Royalty: You agree not to chew gum on stage! You understand that at ALL LCIS Pageants when you are wearing your sash as visiting royalty, you behave as a queen. No gossiping, no heckling, laughing, or disrupting the pageant or contestants. NEVER bring a sign to cheer for your favorite girl except for the LCIS County Pageant when we will support our Winthrop Harbor Queens. You understand when you cross a stage, you keep your announcement short and only use your current and previous Lake County titles.
    • You agree to NEVER wear your crown and sash at any event or pageant without the approval of your Pageant Director.
    • Should your crown break it MUST be replaced at your expense. (Contact Director) Tiny/Little - $50 / Junior/Miss - $75 through your director.
    • A set of car signs will be provided to winning queens, any lost or damaged signs must be replaced at your expense through the director.
    • You agree to NEVER use alcohol or other drugs, smoke or commit a criminal offense, or to become pregnant during your reign.
    • You agree to be gracious and responsible, writing Thank You notes in a timely manner and RSVPing to ALL event invitations ASAP.
    • You agree to always respond to all correspondence, including but not limited to the following, text messages, emails, and Facebook messages from the Pageant Director within 24 hours.
    • You agree to always have a positive attitude publicly towards the Pageant system, your fellow Queens,
    • contestants and their families, before, during, and after the pageant and your reign.
    • •ou agree to give the Pageant Director access (not passwords) to all social media accounts.
    • You agree to be a good role model to all young ladies, especially your Queen Sisters.
    • You agree NOT to chew gum at events.
    • You agree NOT to compete in any other pageants or pageant programs except for Lake County Illinois State Pageant while you hold a Winthrop Harbor Queen title.
    • You agree to compete in all aspects of the Lake County Illinois State Pageant.
    • You agree that your Crown and Sash are the property of the Winthrop Harbor Pageant and any time you yourself decide that you can no longer fulfill your role or at any time you violate the rules set forth or conduct yourself in a manner unbecoming of a Queen as decided by your Pageant Director, that you will relinquish your Crown, Sash, car signs, any gift items, or monetary awards.
    • You understand that even after your reigning year is over if your public persona does not fall in line with the actions of royalty, you will be asked to not wear your sash and to not represent the Winthrop Harbor Pageant. •After your reign, you may wear your sash to any other Lake County Illinois State Pageant event or events deemed appropriate by the current Pageant Director, but you will NEVER wear your crown once your reign ends.
    • For parades, floats are required. Under special circumstances, if riding in two separate cars for parades, the Miss and Tiny must ride together and the Junior and Little must ride together for safety reasons.
    • You are never to use your title or to wear your sash to create, organize or attend functions after your reign is
    • over. You also agree that imprinting your title on any garment or literature during or after your reign must be approved by the Pageant Director.
    • You agree any money raised, donated, or given to you as a Winthrop Harbor Queen related to pageant fundraising or to your platform is property of the Winthrop Harbor Pageant and Community Service Program and will be given to your Pageant Director. If funds were raised for your platform, they will be dispersed by the Pageant Director as agreed to in the planning of the event. ALL platforms/events MUST be approved in advance with Pageant Director.
    • All outgoing speeches will be recorded and have time restrictions unless approved otherwise by Pageant
    • Director. All speeches will be approved by the Pageant Director prior to recording.
    • Contestants must be living with a parent/legal guardian who is a resident of the 60096 zip code in Winthrop Harbor for the entirety of your reign. Proof of residency will be required to determine eligibility to compete.
    • All clothing choices, speeches, and applications/headshots must be approved by director for Lake County Illinois State Pageant. Remember, you are representing the Winthrop Harbor Pageant.
    • Mandaorty three Lake County Illinois State practice sessions before February 1st with Director Cindy and Assistant Director Rhiannon
    • Pandemics or National States of Emergency’s could change or effect length or reign.
    • Although we encourage family activities, when you are invited to an event please limit attendance to queen and parent / guardian only.
    • We are NOT affiliated with any other program representing Winthrop Harbor as a Pageant, Queen, or Titleholder. Winthrop Harbor Queens should not pose in crown and sash with any other entity representing Winthrop Harbor as a Pageant, Queen, or Titleholder. You shall not remove your crown and sash around any other entity representing Winthrop Harbor as a Pageant, Queen, or Titleholder for picture / video purposes.
    • Please remember that everyone is different. It is those differences that make us special. You cannot choose who you reign with, but you can choose how you treat them. Any questions and concerns should be brought straight to the Pageant Director and all decisions made by the Pageant Director are final.
    • Not following any of the above requirements will cause you to defer your title as the Pageant Director deems necessary.

     

    Any questions or concerns should be brought to the attention of the Pageant Director ASAP. All decisions made by the Pageant Director are final.

  • Winthrop Harbor Pageant and Community Service Program relies on help from the community and sponsors to help us in continuing this program for young ladies in the future. Please make copies of the following ad page and ask your friends and family to help you by placing an ad in our program. These ads help pay for the program and other pageant expenses.

     

    Prizes are as follows:

    First Place – Most Dollar Amount Sold – Priority reserved seating for six people (entry ticket price not included)

    A Friendship Ad gives your friends and family the opportunity to show their support not only financially but also in words of encouragement.

    Please make sure you limit this to friends and family as local business sponsors will be generated by the 2022 queens.

  • The Winthrop Harbor Pageant and Community Service Program relies on sponsorship from local businesses, family and friends to aid us in continuing this program for our community’s young ladies. Your help is very much appreciated. Your ad will be placed in the printed program distributed at the event and each contestant will have a souvenir of our encouraging words.

     

    Sponsorship as follows:

    Full Page Ad (7.5” x 10”) = $75.00

     

    Ads must be:

    • Submitted and paid for by August 12, 2023, along with application and application fee.
