  • Thank you for your interest in learning English.

    Educafe and BSE language support courses are designed to encourage individuals to improve their English, so that they can access community support, healthcare, Further Education, training, and employment opportunities. 

    Our courses are free to residents of West Berkshire. You may need to buy workbooks and course books.

    It will help us to know your English level, but if you're not sure, please don't worry.

    Beginner A1-A2 (Entry 1)
    Improver B1 (Entry 2 - 3)
    Upper Intermediate/Advanced B2 - C1 (Level 1 & 2)

    Some of our English courses are online and some classes are face-to-face.

    Face-to-Face courses

    These take place in public buildings like schools, the library, Town Hall or Family Hubs.

    Online courses

    To join an online course, you will need:
     
    Wifi and email address
    PC/Laptop/Phone (with audio and visual)

    ·      lots of fun activities to help you improve your English
     
    This is a great way to learn English.  A friend can sit with you during the lesson if you are worried or need help.  

    We can arrange a 'connection and equipment check' before your first lesson. So there is nothing to worry about!

     

    ELIGIBILITY Most of our courses are FREE.  Learners need to live in West Berkshire and to be UK Citizens, hold Settled Status and be entitled to UK Public Funds. We will need to see Biometric Visa and proof of address. 

    Asylum seekers need to have been resident in the UK for six-months before applying for a course.  Learners who are unsure can contact us for more details.

    Students are expected to attend a minimum of 6-sessions.  If you leave the course without attending 6-sessions there is an administration fee of £145.

Additionally, special category data related to learning difficulties or disabilities is collected to ensure appropriate adjustments are made for effective learning.

Data Sharing: Your data may be shared with Educafe, the local authority, authorised employees in the community learning service, and contracted third-party organisations for marketing and research purposes. However, we ensure that any third parties with access to your data adhere to strict confidentiality and data protection standards.

    4. Data Storage and Retention: Your data is securely stored in a database. We do not keep paper records. Digital copies of personal and ID documents will be destroyed after 12 months or sooner. We retain your data for a maximum of 5 years, after which it will be securely deleted.

    5. Your Rights: You have the right to request actions regarding your data, such as access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, and objection. If you have any concerns or wish to exercise your rights, please contact us using the provided contact information.

    6. Complaints: If you believe that your data protection rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
