So, you think you’ve got something interesting to say?
An op-ed can be a brilliant way of showcasing your expertise and thought leadership to millions of people.
It's basically an opinion article that has been submitted for publication.
It can help you persuade, influence and change minds and hearts.
But having something interesting to say is only part of the battle.
How can you ensure your words are published and read?
In this masterclass, we will take you through everything you need to know to produce an op-ed that publications will print.
We'll be joined in our studios by Sean Ryan. Sean's vast experience as a journalist ranges from local papers to consumer affairs correspondent at the Daily Mail, followed by environment correspondent and science editor at the Sunday Times, where he went on to oversee home news, features, digital, campaigns and had a long spell as foreign editor.
He is now director of media and corporate communications at Save the Children, which employs 25,000 people in 120 countries.
We'll also have a guest appearance from Jason Collie, associate editor at MailOnline. Jason will bring his opinion as an experienced journalist and manager across print and digital platforms.
In this masterclass, we’ll cover:
- Why op-eds remain a great communication tool
- The planning that needs to take place before you put pen to paper
- How to structure your op-ed and what you should include
- How to pitch your finished article
