Herd Prefix Application

I hereby make application for a Herd Prefix to the American Shorthorn Association. The one-time $100 fee for a herd prefix entitles me to the sole rights of that prefix from the date of this application acceptance by the association, for a lifetime or for five years after lapsed membership.

A Herd Prefix may be requested only by members of the ASA.
A Herd Prefix is not limited to a certain number of characters.
If a Herd Prefix includes multiple words, the prefix must be continuous. Ex: Green_Hill, ASA/MC
Names of animals registered at the ASA must not exceed 35 characters including the Herd Prefix.
A Herd Prefix may be used by other family members, or associated herds, provided written consent from the registered owner of the prefix.
The purpose of using a Herd Prefix is to make your cattle herd identifiable and consistent.
In cases of the same prefix, preference will be given to the member who first used the prefix and/or when the application to register the prefix was first made with the ASA.
The second or thirds choices will be used in these cases.
