Winter Plein Air alumni attending Plein Air Grand Marais will be thrilled to learn of this opportunity to paint at YMCA Camp Menogyn during peak fall colors... when the lake is liquid, not frozen! Menogyn is located on west Bearskin Lake at an entry to the BWCAW. This paint-out invitation is an extraordinary opportunity to paint in that setting, which includes lunch, guides, and even use of canoes!
We will leave Grand Marais from the Rec Hall at the Campground at 8:30am, arriving at the Menogyn parking lot by about 9:15am. Menogyn staff will meet us at the boat launch for a pontoon ride across the lake to camp.
Lunch is provided in the Dining Hall. We have access to canoes and trails around camp. We will meet back at the camp-side boat launch at 4:30pm and arrive back in Grand Marais by 6:00pm.
Cost is $17 per person, which OPM pays the YMCA to reimburse for lunch and staff time.
NO HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY: Please be aware that Menogyn is a wilderness camp with no facilities for wheelchairs or facilitating limited mobility. The dining hall and toilet facilities are located a 5 minute walk uphill from the boat landing.
SPECIAL NOTE: Matt Kania is teaching a PAGM workshop at Menogyn during the paint-out. If you register, the $17 fee is bundled with the registration fee, so you don't need to submit this sign up form, too.
