DaCo NOW
Established in 2021, DaCo: Dance Collaboration Lab is an educational, performance-oriented choreographic residency that supports choreographic practices. Each year, the residency provides four emerging choreographers with studio space, workshops, mentorship, access to dancers, a small honorarium, a performance opportunity, and professional video footage of their work.
DaCo’s goal is to support choreographers’ creative process, to offer tools that are meaningful, and to accelerate their ability to realize choreographic ideas. The residency is designed for young choreographers, who wish to lay the foundation for a work they feel strongly about and confident in taking further.
FUTURE DaCo
Like all artistic programs, DaCo continuously seeks to improve by closely reflecting the community’s interest. This is why we need your feedback!
We are currently contemplating developing DaCo into a training program for choreographers rather than a choreographic residency. This would mean emphasizing the educational and training aspect instead of the creation of works-in-progress. This new version of DaCo would offer a wide range of choreographic workshops over the course of two weeks. The workshops would explore choreographic practices but not result in choreographic outcomes. The emphasis would be on exploration and enrichment rather than creating works-in-progress.
