Black Lives Matter 10 Year Anniversary: Send a 'Congrats' Video!
On July 13, 2013, the Black Lives Matter movement was born in response to the acquittal of George Zimmerman, who mercilessly stole the life of Trayvon Martin. For the last 10 years, we have unceasingly committed ourselves to doing the work that uplifts the names of those stolen by white-supremacy and police violence. Our work seeks to transform systems, end state-sanctioned violence against Black people, and vision and build new systems of care. On July 15, 2023, we will be holding our 10 Year Anniversary celebration in the heart of AfricaTown, or what some call the Leimert Park neighborhood in Los Angeles. We welcome you to celebrate with us by sending a video sharing any congratulations and well wishes both on this form and to your social media accounts. You can also share photos of any BLM actions you have been to since the beginning! When sharing congrats videos to social media, please tag us- BLM Grassroots on Facebook, @blmgrassroots on Twitter, IG & TikTok Social media links found below this description. Please fill out the short questionnaire before submitting in case we need to follow-up. Formatting guidelines are found right above the upload box. One entry per submission, please. Thank you!
