Music Activity Scholarship Conditions
The department of music upholds the standards and eligibility requirements as stated above. In addition, the following conditions must be met:
1. The student must maintain full-time status (12 credit hours per semester, minimum).
2. The department of music requires that recipients maintain a minimum cumulative 2.50 grade point average (GPA).
3. Music majors must satisfactorily maintain the requirements of the declared degree track (academic studies) per the Casper College catalog.
4. An activity scholarship recipient must be enrolled in and actively participate in: 1) the major ensemble appropriate to their declared field of study; * 2) a second ensemble, specified by the faculty sponsor; and 3) applied music in the declared field of study each semester. Ensemble assignments for the 2022-2023 academic year will be made during the first week of classes. Students may be required to audition for placement in an ensemble. Any exception to the ensemble requirement as stated above must be petitioned by the student to the music program director each semester who will confer with the appropriate faculty for final approval. Petition forms are available in the school of fine arts and humanities office.
5. The student must reapply each year for the music activity scholarship. The student is eligible for the activity scholarship for a maximum of six (6) semesters.
* Chamber Orchestra, Collegiate Chorale (by audition), or College Band. Scholarship holders whose instrument does not fall into one of the aforementioned categories, such as piano or guitar, must consult the advisor and the chair, who will assist in identifying an appropriate, alternate ensemble.
