Artist Residency Application

WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE THIRD PERIOD OF 2026, FOR JULY, AUGUST, AND SEPTEMBER. FINAL SELECTION FOR THIS PERIOD WILL BE MADE IN JANUARY 2026 AFTER THE APPLICATIONS CLOSE AT THE END OF DECEMBER 2025.
Driving Creek offers Artist Residencies, of up to 5 weeks, to artists of any field and level. Artists can apply for multiple residency periods per calendar year. However, any applicant will only be accepted for one residency per calendar year.

Please take the time to read Driving Creek's Artists in Residence Terms and Conditions before beginning your application. Driving Creek artist residencies are free of charge. However, in line with Barry Brickell's ethos, we do require residents to volunteer 8-10 hours of their time each week during their residency to help with daily tasks at Driving Creek.

As part of your participation in the Driving Creek Artist in Residence (AIR) programme, each artist is also required to contribute two works as a lasting record of their involvement in the programme and in support of its future.

These contributions are an important part of the residency, and they play a key role in sustaining and celebrating the AIR programme at Driving Creek. Donation -AIR

Basic free on-site accommodation is provided as part of your residency. You are welcome to book accommodation off-site at your own cost for the duration of your residency if you do require more comforts and privacy, or are hoping for your family to accompany you. Please refer to the Accommodation Guide for some local accommodation options.

You have the option of submitting an individual, joint or group application. If you are an artist couple or looking to do a joint residency collaborating with another artist/ other artists, please select joint or group application as your application type. Otherwise, select individual application.

Please let us know if you have specific previous experience or any field of speciality that you would be happy to offer for our use during your residency time as volunteering contribution, such as photography, social media content creating, archiving, etc. *We ask our residents to volunteer for 8 to 10 hours a week while on residency.

Would you like to request your partner to accompany you for part or all of your residency? We allow partners to accompany residents for part or full duration of the residency sharing the allocated accommodation and they are expected to allocate 20 hours of their time per week for volunteer work. If you would like your children to come and visit you during your residency, they are welcome to share your accommodation for up to 2 nights. Please be aware that our accommodation facilities are quite basic, and suitable for maximum of 2 to 3 people, with 1 queen-size bed supplied with bedding and sheets.*
