Individual studios are available for the use of BFA students in both the JKB and the B-66. Assignment of individual studio space requires an approved written proposal (see below). The BFA coordinator (or, in the case of B-66 studio spaces, Brian Christensen) will assign studio space based on availability once your written proposal has been reviewed and accepted by your advisor. Priority is given to students graduating soonest. Our goal is to have students occupy a studio space for up to one calendar year, however, depending on the number of students currently in the program, this is not always possible. Abuse of the space, or student’s inactivity while in the BFA program will lead to the loss of studio space for that individual.
The written proposal presents your ideas for a final project, including background on the project as well as an overview of subject matter, formal concepts, processes, and techniques. This form also requests that you describe the number and size of pieces you are hoping to make, how you are planning on presenting your work, and the venue in which the show will take place. Finally, you will be asked to describe how you will utilize the studio space in preparation for your show and list your expected graduation date.
