The Dora Joyner Legacy Scholarship provides financial support for Dallas area Tuskegee University students who are experiencing a crisis that could adversely affect their enrollment, semester completion, or graduation. The intent of the scholarship is to assist those in greatest need. This is not a merit-based scholarship, however, applicants must be in good academic standing with Tuskegee University to be eligible.

AWARD DETAILS

The Dallas - Fort Worth Tuskegee Alumni Club will award two (2) - $1,000 Dora Joyner Legacy Scholarships annually. Scholarships are awarded in the fall semester of the academic year. 

Applications are accepted July 1 - August 31 of each academic year. The application deadline is Sunday, August 31, 2026, at 10:00 pm.

Awards are issued in October.

WHAT EXPENSES CAN BE COVERED WITH DJL Scholarship?

• Tuition, room, board, university fees
• Costs of additional equipment, laptop, books and supplies, software or technology to complete educational requirements

 

WHAT EXPENSES CANNOT BE COVERED WITH DJL Scholarship?

• Penalties, fines, parking, or other tickets
• Nonessential expenses

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• Student must be from the Dallas - Fort Worth metroplex
• Student must be enrolled or seeking enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate at Tuskegee University 
• Student must not be on academic suspension, behavioral probation, or suspension
