Thank you for your interest in the ArtAbility Scholarship for the Fifth Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market Presented By Google Fiber. This scholarship, in partnership with the Utah Developmental Disabilities Council, benefits local makers, with a focus on those with disabilities who aspire to use their passion, skills and talents to build a small business as an artisan. This scholarship is open to individuals who are both first-time applicants and returning Holiday Market or DiY Fest exhibitors, specifically for people with disabilities who aspire to use their passion, skills and talents to build a small business as an artisan. Self-employment offers people with disabilities and others flexibility and freedom that traditional jobs may not, such as working at their own pace, increased independence and opportunities to build financial stability.
To be considered for this scholarship, interested parties must complete & submit the general Holiday Market application (accessible here) & be juried into the event by a panel of anonymous jurors selected by Craft Lake City. Please note that individuals who apply for the ArtAbility Scholarship will be ineligible to be selected for the Artisan Scholarship & Mentor Program, and vice versa, so please be sure to review both applications and submit an application for only one of these scholarships.
The ArtAbility Scholarship includes: waived booth fees for participation in the Fifth Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market Presented By Google Fiber, special signage at your booth, & promotion across Craft Lake City’s social media channels specific to this scholarship award. The scholarship recipient will also receive one-on-one mentorship from a seasoned DIY Fest or Holiday Market exhibitor before, during, & after the event. Mentors share their experiences by teaching basic entrepreneurial skills to scholarship recipients, including subjects such as booth display, sales & lead generation, promotion and money management. Mentors also provide logistical and emotional support to their designated exhibitors before, during and after the Holiday Market. Mentors’ booths are placed near their paired Scholar at the Holiday Market so they can easily help provide support during load-in and throughout the event. After the Holiday Market, Craft Lake City hosts a group celebration and feedback session where Mentors and Scholars share their successes and discuss their experiences.
Selected applicants for this scholarship will be notified on October 16, 2023 alongside the general selected exhibitor announcements for Holiday Market. This scholarship is made possible by the Utah Developmental Disabilities Council.
