Established by Donald Katz, Esq. in memory of his wife, the Susan J. Tisiker Memorial Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance for higher education to students graduating from Palmerton Area School District in Carbon County.
The Susan J. Tisiker Memorial Scholarship is a one-year, renewable scholarship awarded annually to a qualified graduating high school senior (or home-schooled student who has a state-recognized graduation certificate/diploma) from Palmerton Area School District, who is seeking to further their education at a 2 or 4-year college or university.
It is intended that this scholarship shall be renewable for up to four years per recipient for a maximum total of $8,000 awarded. Distribution of subsequent scholarship funds is contingent upon the recipient’s continued full-time enrollment in a higher education institution.
Minimum qualifications for the scholarship include:
- Demonstrated financial need
- Demonstrated community or volunteer involvement;
- Preference will be given to students who are or have been active in Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts for at least four years, though this is not a requirement
