Volunteer Preferences

BYS has a long-standing and strong culture of volunteering at the Club. With preparations for the coming season well underway, it's time for you, our members to update your volunteering preferences.

As a Club heavily reliant on volunteers for the delivery of many of its core functions, BYS expects members who are able to do so to offer their services, skills and experience to perform no less than two volunteer tasks within a membership year for the greater good of the Club. There are lots of ways to be involved with our race day volunteering being the primary area needing volunteer support.

Volunteering during a regatta is a great way to expand your skills and be part of a special event. There are many on-land and on-water roles, many don't require special knowledge or experience, just a willingness to get involved. Some volunteers may aspire to work towards Regional and National level accreditation in several areas. You don't need to be available for all days of a regatta although it's preferable if you can do two days.

We will get in touch with members indicating an interest in regatta volunteering to provide more information.

Sailability is a program delivered by volunteers to provide community access to sailing with a special focus on making it easier for people with limited mobility or a disability to get on the water.

Sailability runs on Tuesday mornings and utilises Access 303s sailed in the pond area. We are in need of additional volunteers, including sailors to accompany our participants in the 303s, safety boat teams, and welcoming and marshalls teams.
