More About The Sew Powerful Mission

Sew Powerful is a Christian ministry that exists to employ and empower people to pursue life in all its fullness. In Zambia we have 96 team members receiving good jobs. Everywhere else in the world we are volunteers. We focus on creating purposeful products that change communities -- things like school uniforms, reusable hygiene pads, soap, backyard gardens, and farm fresh food. Because we are all-volunteers in the west – we have an incredibly low overhead rate of under 5%. You can give with confidence knowing that we are careful stewards of the funds we receive.

Why We Need Your Support For This Special Event

After the purses arrive in Zambia, they are filled with feminine hygiene supplies to help the schoolgirls there save up to 6 weeks of missed school per year. Financial donations are used for fabric, underwear, soap, and to train and pay a good wage to seamstresses who make the hygiene supplies. The supplies and labor translate into a cost of about $10 to fill a purse. Our 2023 goal is to send 25,000 purses to Zambia, which means we need $250,000 to fully fund the program.
