Headshot Guidelines
If you already have a portrait that was taken by a professional photographer, that’s great! Please confirm that it is a high-resolution image and submit it using the form above. If not, here are some tips for taking a headshot yourself.
- Take a high-resolution, 72+ dpi picture using your phone camera. If possible, have someone else take the photo of you, as phones’ rear cameras are typically better quality than front-facing selfie cameras.
- Ensure that the full size of the photo is more than 1 MB (1,000 KB)
- Include sufficient background space around your head and shoulders. Do not use the zoom function. Our designers can always crop the photo, if needed.
- Use your camera app instead of a third-party app like Snapchat or Instagram.
- Don’t use any filters or your phone’s built-in portrait mode.
- Take the picture indoors, in front of a neutral background, with even lighting.
- If you would like to take the picture outdoors, we recommend finding a location that is in full shade.
- Wear solid colors. Avoid any intricate patterns, logos, name tags, and brand names.
- Do not use a group photo.
- Do not use a photo with red-eye. Turn off the flash, if possible.
- JPG file format is best
