Please read these ear tip FAQ's:
What is an ear tip?
An ear tip is the removal of the very tip of the ear while the cats are under anesthesia. This is a visual confirmation that the cat has already been spayed/neutered, and will not need to be re-trapped. The ear tip is not painful and does not do any harm to the cat. It is not "butchering". It is not "cruel". It is not any of the things you might think it is.
Why do you require ear tips on all cats?
An ear tip prevents repeat trapping. An ear tip prevents the risk of the cat going through anesthesia again. An ear tip will prevent the cat from taking a spay/neuter appointment away from another cat that needs to be spayed or neutered. An ear tip can help prevent the cat from being trapped and dumped by a disgruntled neighbor. An ear tip can help prevent so many things, and yet it is such a small, minor thing. These are just some of the many reasons why we require ear tips.
Even if I found the cat outside and now the cat will live inside only, do you still require an ear tip?
Yes. Even if your cat is going to remain inside, we still require an ear tip. If your cat ever escapes outside, or if for some reason you re-home your cat, and the cat ends up outside at a later time, the ear tip will prevent all of the things we mentioned above. Just because you now 'own' the cat doesn't mean the cat is exempt from ever going outside ever again. Life happens, cats escape all the time, and ear tips save lives.
