Terms and Conditions - online selling rules and regulations best practices state that conditions of purchases be spelled out and are clear. If pricing increases for customers purchasing goods through a subscription model, they must be notified.
Protect all your data- PCI Compliant. Online retailers must have reputable payment gateways. If your online marketplace isn’t using third party companies such as PayPal for your avenue of payment, it is your responsibility to be compliant with local data protection standards.
Protect your products online- having delivery insurance and an exchange policy. In others, provide customers with a cancellation policy upfront, or a process for service review and feedback.
- Trademark, patent, and copyright – follow all applicable guidelines
- Online sellers must keep records for online transactions
- Sellers must have a Compliant Privacy Policy. A privacy policy that outlines how data is used data, why data is needed, and what rights your customers have when it comes to controlling that data. This can vary from state to state. Sellers are obligated to take measures to protect consumer’s personal data with secure payment gateways.
License and Permits- Sellers must have all of the required license, registration and permits required by law.
Age restrictions – Sellers are encouraged to include an age Limitation in Terms and Conditions for purchasers.
Shipping Restrictions and Agreements- Sellers agree to abide by the obligations outlined under the Federal Trade Commission Mail Order or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule or other applicable regulations in their country.
Taxes- All Sellers are responsible for applicable sales taxes
