All students in the Confirmation Program at St. Timothy's must meet certain

attendance requirements and are as follows:

    CLASS

Students will be allowed a MAXIMUM of three (3) excused absences during the

year (including illnesses), with assigned make-up work to be completed. It is very

important that you attend all of your class sessions and activities/events as a great

deal of material is presented and discussed in each session. Make-up work will be

assigned and must be satisfactorily completed for missed classes. An excused

absence is one of which the catechist and CYM have at least one week's prior

written notice, and for which the make-up work has been completed. Illnesses are

naturally unforeseen and will be excused, but they will still count toward your

three maximum. If you miss more than three classes you will be required to

repeat the program year. If you do not complete the retreat requirement for your

class level, you will be required to repeat the program year.

    MASS

As a Catholic, you're obligated to attend Mass every Sunday and Holy Day of

Obligation. In signing up to be part of this program, you're saying that this is the

faith family that you want to worship with and call your home. You can go

elsewhere for Mass as well, of course, but at least 75% of your liturgy attendance

should be here with this worshipping community. To assist you in learning to reflect

on and apply the Sunday teachings to your personal life, a brief Homily Reflection

may be required after every mass.

    YOU!

This year will be what YOU make it. We have lots of activities and talks and fun

stuff planned to make your learning experience a good one. But YOU have to

commit to being here and participating fully in all of it. If you come with a

negative attitude, it will cause you and those around you to have a negative

experience. If you come with an open mind and heart, you'll get a whole lot

more out of this year. Your parents and teachers are here to give you all the

support you need, but the ultimate responsibility lies with you.

I understand and agree to abide by the above stated requirements.

    CONFIRMATION PREPARATION DISCIPLINE GUIDELINES

    Dear Parent or Guardian,

Discipline is an essential aspect of development. Its purpose in an educational setting is to

provide an environment conducive to learning, to educate students to an appreciation of the

importance of developing self-control and responsibility for their actions. Discipline works best

where the dignity of every person involved is respected. If a person is accused of wrongdoing

s/he will be informed of what s/he did that was wrong and will be given a chance to present

his/her side of the story. The age and maturity of the child will be taken into account in making

    such an assessment.

The Diocese of San Diego guidelines regarding religious education classroom discipline (DCM

Guideline #22) requires that parents and students be informed of the parish's policy for behavior

standards prior to the beginning of the school year. Please go over the following guidelines, sign

them, and return them with your child's registration form. If you have any questions or concerns

please do not hesitate to contact Justin Mora, the Youth and Young Adult Coordinator at

    760-300-1460.

    1. Class Rules

    • Keep hands, feet, and objectst to yourself. No teasing or swearing.
    • Electronic devices must be turned off & put away and may be used with instructor/Youth and Young Adult Coordinator permission only. These include but are not limited to: laptop computer, tablet, cell phone, etc.
    • Follow directions (including dress code) and participate in class.
    • Possession and/or use of illegal substances will not be tolerated and will result in a call to the student's parent/guardian for immediate pickup.

    2. Consequences for Broken Rules

    • First consequence: warning from teacher
    • Second consequence: meeting with teacher and/or Youth and Young Adult Coordinator
    • Third consequence: if the problem persists a conference with the parents will be called and if no solution can be found then suspension from the program will be warranted.

**The consequences listed above are cumulative throughout the course of the year.**

It is absolutely forbidden for any disciplinary measure to involve personal indignities,

humiliation, indiscriminate punishment, sending students outside the classroom without adult

supervision, or corporal punishment of any kind.

I have read the Disciplinary Guidelines as stated above and agree to abide by them.
