In consideration of being allowed to participate in the community bike ride organized by the Benton Harbor Community Development Corporation, I, the undersigned participant, acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions:

Assumption of Risk: I am aware that participating in a bike ride involves inherent risks, including but not limited to the risk of accidents, collisions, falls, and injuries. I voluntarily assume all such risks and agree that the Benton Harbor Community Development Corporation shall not be held responsible for any injuries, damages, or losses sustained during the bike ride.

Fitness to Participate: I confirm that I am physically fit and capable of participating in the bike ride. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to assess my own health and consult with a medical professional if necessary before participating.

Safety Guidelines: I agree to abide by all safety guidelines and instructions provided by the organizers. This includes wearing a helmet at all times during the ride, following traffic laws, using hand signals when turning or stopping, and maintaining a safe distance from other riders.

Release and Waiver: I hereby release, discharge, and hold harmless the Benton Harbor Community Development Corporation, its officers, employees, volunteers, and representatives from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses arising out of or in connection with my participation in the bike ride.

Insurance: I understand that the Benton Harbor Community Development Corporation does not provide any insurance coverage for participants. I am solely responsible for maintaining appropriate personal insurance coverage for any injuries or damages that may occur during the bike ride.

Photography and Publicity: I grant permission to the Benton Harbor Community Development Corporation to take photographs, videos, or other recordings of me during the bike ride. I understand that these materials may be used for promotional purposes and waive any rights or claims for compensation associated with their use.

Compliance with Laws: I agree to comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations during the bike ride, including traffic laws and local ordinances.
I have read this waiver and release of liability, fully understand its terms, and acknowledge that I am signing it voluntarily and without any inducement or assurance. I understand that by signing this document, I am giving up certain legal rights.

Ride Notes:

All participants are required to wear helmets. No exceptions.
Be Courteous at Intersections and With Motorists – Obey intersectional traffic signs and signals.
Avoid Riding More Than Two Abreast – It’s illegal in Michigan. Stay as far to the right of the lane as possible. Never cross the center lines of the road. Ride in two distinct parallel rows when riding side-by-side. Only pass other riders on the left and alert them by saying, “On Your Left” to pass safely.
