Introduction
This form is to be used by students who have reached the end of their scheduled course duration and have been unable to complete the qualification within the original course dates due to circumstances outside of their control. Examples of these circumstances may include, but are not limited to, work commitments, caregiving responsibilities, or illness.
Course extension requests must be submitted no later than two weeks after the official course end date. If granted, an initial course extension of up to three months may be applied. A maximum of two extensions totalling six months may be granted depending on the nature of the student's circumstances.
Approved extensions will be backdated to the official course end date, not the date the form is submitted.
To apply for a course extension, students must:
- Be enrolled in a full qualification (excludes short courses and micro-credentials)
- Submit this formal Course Extension Request Form and upload any relevant supporting documentation.
- Have no outstanding course tuition fees.
- Have demonstrated a minimum level of academic progression (to be determined by the assessing officer on a case-by-case basis depending on the course and total number of units)
- Agree to follow the revised study plan and meet all assessment deadlines within the extension period.
- Pay any additional fees as outlined in the Schedule of Administrative Fees as outlined on the ACBI website.
If compassionate or compelling circumstances arise during the course, students should apply for a formal suspension of studies not a course extension per ACBI's Student Deferment, Suspension, and Cancellation Policy & Procedure available on the ACBI website.
