• 2026-2027 Local Preliminary Application

    DO NOT BEGIN TO ADVERTISE YOUR LOCAL COMPETITION UNTIL YOUR APPLICATION HAS BEEN APPROVED. APPROVAL WILL COME FROM THE MISS ILLINOIS STATE ORGANIZATION.
  • Please answer all fields. If there is a question that does not apply to you, please enter N/A. All locals MUST provide 2 contacts for the local preliminary.  

    • You must have already applied to Miss America for your local license and paid your Miss America Fee.
    • Not more than 1 local will be approved for each date.
    • All locals must be completed by January 31, 2027.
    • This application must be submitted no later than 30 days prior to your competition, and not later than August 30, 2026. 
    • Locals will be assigned dates based on completing this application with all fields completed and not the same date listed 3 times.
    • Assignments will begin July 1, 2026, and processed as submitted on a weekly basis. 
    • All Crowns and Sashes will be preordered by the state and will be brought to your local by a Field Director.  You will need to select the titles from the drop down list on this application.
    • There will be no more than 30 titles for 2027
    • The Insurance/registration of $200 and $75 per sash/title, must be paid at the time of your registration.
    • Remainder of fees due 30 days after competition. 
    • Scholarship funds must be confirmed 2 weeks prior to competition.  If your funds are are SICF, then SICF will confirm for you.  If you keep your scholarship funds seperate they must be in a separate checking account from your operating funds and you must submit a bank statement showing how much is unclaimed from your previous award cycle and how much is available to award this year.
    • Judges must be submitted for approval 1 month in advance.
    • All locals must include 1 hour of on-line video judge training, prior to the date of the competition. 
    • All emcees, volunteers and judges must be approved by the state organization, must be at least 29 years old, must be 3 years post the eligibility requirements to compete at Miss America, and sign an affidavit 2 weeks prior to competition.
    • A local judge cannot have judged more than 1 local in the current competition cycle, or the Miss Illinois state competition within the past 3 competition cycles.
    • As communicated previously, Miss America and its affiliated organizations do not participate in, endorse, or associate with the Miss USA, Miss Universe, or any similar competing program.  No titleholder, contestant, state organization, staff member, volunteer, or representative is authroized to engage in joint photo opportunities, stage acknowledgements, cross-promotional activity, or other public-facing  collaboration with those organizations.
    • All locals will be required to use the state local registration form.  This is a requirement for tracking AHA fundraising requirements.  You may have your competitors also complete another form, but this must be the first form they complete.  As a local director, you will get an email everytime someone registers.

  • A minimum of 3 delegates must be present to award one title.

    A minimum of 6 delegates must be present to award two titles.

    A minimum of 9 delegates must be present to award three titles.

     

    In the event that less than 6 are present, only one title may be awarded.

  • This is an application to hold a program whose winner(s) will compete for the title of Miss Illinois 2027.

    All competitors must raise $30 for the American Heart Association through Spotfund for each local competition that they participate in. 

     

    For all programs, a non-refundable $200 deposit will be required prior to approval of your program and date.

    Resignation of a local title in order to become eligible except as stated above must be in accordance with rules and regulations of MISO.

    ** Any registered delegate who decides not to compete in the local competition must notify the local executive director in writing, but if less than 48 hours before the local competition delegate must notify the local executive director by phone.

     

    ALL LOCAL COMPETITIONS MUST BE COMPLETED NO LATER THAN JANUARY 31st 2027.

    The MISO Board of Directors must approve all local competitions for 2026-2027. The contacts listed above will make up the local program mailing list.
