WASHING

Brush out the extensions with a WetBrush before getting into the shower.  This helps prevent deep tangles and matting.

Use a sulfate free shampoo to prolong your hair color and the extension color as well.  Shampoo gently between the rows, no need for vigorous scrubbing.

Use a leave-in + oil combo before brushing.

When brushing wet hair, always hold track and start from your ends and work your way up to the scalp.  You can hold the hair in one hand (pinched like a ponytail) and brush.

 
-We recommend only washing your hair 1-2 times a week.  If you must wash your hair before you go to bed, make sure you fully dry the base of your rows. Tying your wet hair up in a bun or ponytail will cause breakage and can create a mildew smell, resulting in needing new hair.

-Avoid the use of dry shampoo of any brand on the extensions!  This will inevitably cause the extension hair to become dry and brittle, causing frizz and breakage.  When using dry shampoo, be sure to focus on your natural hair.

-NEVER use ANY drugstore hair care products on your extensions.  These types of products are usually sub-par products that can cause your extensions to tangle and even become matted.  Hair extensions are an investment, so should your products.

-If you have hard water/well water:  Use a Raindrop System to purify your water source. Well water may change the color of the hair, and cause your hair extensions to matte and tangle. In order to BEST protect your investment, use bottled, purified or distilled water when shampooing and conditioning.

-I highly recommend using Microfiber towels.  Microfiber towels are friction free and will not be harsh on your hair as other towels. They will actually make your hair smoother and dry faster! When towel drying, gently squeeze out excess water and blot with the microfiber towel. If needed you can wrap the towel around your head, but do not rub or turn your head upside down to roll your hair in the towel.

 STYLING

Air dry your hair 80% of the way, if blow drying try to avoid tugging at the extensions with a round brush or comb, just use our hands/fingers until almost completely dry.  This applies to Dry Bars as well.  It is important to tell whoever styles your hair to NOT round brush your hair from start to finish. You can use a round brush and a small amount of tension to smooth your hair and the extension hair, the last few minutes of your blow dry.

If curling your extensions, smooth the hair once or twice through the iron, before placing curls.  This will give your extensions a more polished look, close the cuticle, and prolong the extension hair. 

-ALWAYS use a medium to low heat setting with ALL tools.

-Be sure to use a Heat Protectant.  This will extend the lifespan of your extensions and also keep your natural hair healthy.

-Remember, if you’re planning on using a flat iron/curling iron, it’s important to invest in good quality tools!

-Avoid these products, like the plague:

-Moroccan/Argan oil-Alcohol-Sulfates and Parabens

-Sunscreen(make sure hair is out of the way before applying, will cause coloration and result in needing new hair)

 
SLEEPING

Brush the extension hair out and then place in a loose ponytail or braid.

 
SWIMMING

If you swim regularly, we highly recommend wearing a swim cap to protect your hair.  Before swimming always wet the hair with clean water and add conditioner to the extension hair 2” down from the ends of hair, then braid it up and put on the swim cap.
If you forgot to bring swim cap, at a minimum wet your hair, apply the conditioner, and braid it of clip it up.  Try to keep your hair above water. 

Shampoo and condition your hair as soon as possible after you finish swimming. 

 
SUN & BEACH

Use a hat or bandana to cover up your hair when you’re out in the sun.  This will prevent the sun from drying out your hair and fading the color.

 

OTHER

-After a few washes, the extension hair will expand and take on a more realistic hair texture.

-If you notice any excess tangling, or hair shedding, please contact your stylist, as these are quick fixes when addressed right away.

-You can live a normal, even active, lifestyle with NBR!  Just treat the extensions with some gentleness to keep them looking their best, the longest.
