As a member of a JCDSRI family - including as a parent, legal guardian, or other person associated with a student - I recognize that a positive and constructive partnership between families and the school is essential to our children’s education and the well-being of our community.
I am committed to:
- Upholding JCDSRI’s five core values: Kavod — Respect; Chesed — Loving-Kindness; Achrayut — Responsibility; Kehillah — Community; and Tzedek — Justice/Righteousness.
- Supporting JCDSRI’s educational program, which nurtures creativity and curiosity while promoting academic rigor, critical thinking, problem-solving, and the development of character.
- Respecting JCDSRI’s pluralistic approach to Jewish life and engaging thoughtfully with perspectives, practices, and experiences that may differ from my own.
- Building meaningful and respectful relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, trustees, students, and other families.
- Communicating with respect and courtesy in person, in writing, electronically, and on social media.
- Bringing questions or concerns directly to the appropriate person and following the school’s Conflict Resolution Policy for Families.
- Remaining open-minded and curious when I receive new information; listening with empathy; and assuming the best of others whenever possible.
- Accepting feedback, reflecting, taking responsibility, and engaging in tikkun - repair - when my actions or communications cause harm or do not reflect JCDSRI’s values.
- Respecting the privacy and confidentiality of students, families, and employees.
I understand that behavior, communications, or interactions by a parent or other family member - whether in or out of school, including at school-sponsored events - that are disruptive, intimidating, aggressive, or otherwise seriously interfere with JCDSRI’s safety procedures, responsibilities, educational purpose, or program may have consequences. JCDSRI reserves the right to place restrictions on a parent’s or other family member’s involvement or activity at school, on school property, or at school-related events for reasons the school deems appropriate. JCDSRI also reserves the right to dismiss a student and/or family from the community, including by withholding re-enrollment forms. Any determination under this paragraph shall be in the school’s sole discretion.
In the event of a serious infraction or emergency, JCDSRI may act immediately without first using the Conflict Resolution Policy for Families. In all other circumstances, the matter will be addressed in accordance with the Conflict Resolution Policy for Families.
By signing below, I acknowledge and agree to the Family Handbook and Family Code of Conduct. I also agree to review the Student Code of Conduct with each of our children in Grade 1 or above.
