  • Registry of Merit Eligibility: Dams must have produced five (5) AKC Champions. Sires must have produced eight (8) AKC Champions. Otterhound may be deceased or living. There are no time limitations.
  • Registry of Merit Excellent Eligibility: Dams must have produced ten (10) AKC Champions from at least two (2) sires. Sires must have produced fifteen (15) AKC Champions by at least three (3) dams. Otterhound may be deceased or living. There are no time limitations.
  • Top Stud Dog/Brood Bitch Eligibility: Points are awarded for each offspring but may only be awarded for once in each category per offspring (i.e., tracking dog vs. tracking dog excellent). Chose the higher point award. OFA Hip scores are the designated tie-breaker. 10 points for each AKC Champion; 10 points for each AKC Tracking Dog Excellent title or VST title; 5 points for each AKC Tracking Dog title; 5 points for each OFA hips number (include for all eligible offspring).
  • Health Certificate Eligibility: A health certificate will be presented to the owner of an Otterhound who achieves CHIC certification through OFA. CHIC Health testing requirements include OFA hip certification, OFA elbow certification, Glanzmann’s Thrombasthenia testing, OFA DNA bank
  • OHCA Hall of Fame Eligibility: For a dog to be eligible, they must have won a BEST IN SHOW at a member or licensed AKC all-breed competition; Won a BEST IN SHOW Owner Handled at a member or licensed AKC all-breed competition; Won a HIGH IN TRIAL at a member or licensed AKC all-breed competition; Achieved their UTILITY DOG title; Achieved their TRACKING DOG EXCELLENT title; Achieved an EXCELLENT level AGILITY title (if PREFERRED two EXCELLENT level titles or one MASTER level); Achieved their VARIABLE SURFACE TRACKING title; Been deemed a "hero dog" in the opinion of the OHCA Board of Directors; or, otherwise thought to be eligible for entry in the Hall of Fame in the opinion of the OHCA Board of Directors. ***Note: The requirement for an AKC Owner of Record to be an OHCA member does not apply to the OHCA Hall of Fame.
  • For all Versatility Award, "Intermediate" means Open Level Agility, CDX, TDX; "Excellent" means Excellent Level Agility, UD, VST.
  • Versatile Otterhound (VO) Eligibility: Must have titles in two (2) different categories at the minimum of CH, BN, TD, Novice Agility, Rally Novice. Rally and Conformation titles only count at the basic of novice level.
  • Versatile Otterhound Intermediate (VOI) Eligibility: Must have titles in two (2) different categories and at least one must be at the intermediate level. Intermediate starts at the Open level Agility, CDX, TGX. Rally and Conformation titles do not count towards the intermediate level requirement.
  • Versatile Otterhound Excellent (VOX) Eligibility: Must have titles in three (3) different categories and at least one must be at the intermediate level. Intermediate starts at the Open level Agility, CDX, TGX. Rally and Conformation titles do not count towards the intermediate level requirement.
  • Versatile Otterhound Champion (VOCH) Eligibility: Must have titles in three (3) different categories with at least one at the excellent level and another at the intermediate level. Intermediate starts at the Open level Agility, CDX, TGX. Excellent starts at Excellent level Agility, UD, VST. OTCH o CT or MACH are also considered excellent titles. Rally and Conformation titles do not count towards the intermediate level requirement.
  • Olivia Award: This trophy is in memory of Ottertail's Olivia, UDX ,TDX and honors the Otterhound who most exemplifies the overall working hound. The award may be withheld in a calendar year if no dog meets the BoDs understanding of the spirit of the award.

    Points are not cumulative within a category. Only the highest point title is recognized.

    • Points are earned each calendar year of January 1 to December 31.
    • Applicant must have points from at least two categories and a lifetime total of at least five points.
    • Applicant must earn at least one new point in the calendar year applying though lifetimepoints are counted in total. Titles with numerical achievement (i.e. UDX1, UDX2) areconsidered separate titles and though gain no more points their points carry over to current year earned.
    • In case of a tie the applicant with the most new points earned in the calendar year is the winner.
    • Only AKC titles (besides “Humanitarian” category) are recognized.
