    Melbourne Fringe is an annual celebration of cultural democracy and art for everyone. Every year, over 250 volunteers join our Festival team to assist at our Signature Events, Festival Hub & Info Booth. Our amazing volunteers help with Front of House, Access & Inclusion and All Round Festival support to ensure the successful delivery of the Festival. Applications are now open for 2023! The best part? Everyone's invited!
  • As a Melbourne Fringe volunteer, you will typically contribute 15 – 25 hours of time across the Festival. Most volunteers help across five shifts of up toof up to four hours each, but many put their hand up for more. Some volunteers also help before the Festival, assisting with site décor and administration behind the scenes.

  • Volunteer Terms & Conditions

    • I understand that by volunteering for the Melbourne Fringe Festival, I become a willing representative of Melbourne Fringe. As such, I will respect and abide by the philosophies of the organisation and conduct myself appropriately at all times during volunteer work.
    • I understand that the smooth running of the Festival depends on the work of volunteers. I will therefore be reliable and punctual.
    • I understand that by being a volunteer at Melbourne Fringe I am committing to at least 5 shifts across the festival period.
    • I will endeavor to give the Volunteers Coordinator or appropriate Manager at least 24 hours’ notice if I am unable to fulfil my commitments as scheduled.
    • I agree to undertake any work for Melbourne Fringe in a responsible and safe manner. If I am unsure or concerned about the Health and Safety aspect of the work I am undertaking, or of other's safety, I will seek advice from a manager.
    • I understand that all volunteer work will be carried out in a safe work environment, that I will receive a briefing by Melbourne Fringe Festival's Risk Management Officer.
    • I understand that during volunteer work I am covered by the Melbourne Fringe Festival's Volunteers Insurance.
    • I will attend a Melbourne Fringe volunteer briefing session.
    • I will read and understand the Melbourne Fringe Policies and Procedures Document and understand that if at any time my behaviour does not align with these Policies and Procedures, I will be removed from the volunteering program.
    • I understand that I will receive no financial compensation in exchange for my volunteer work.
