Rules for Students
During Youth Tour, students must understand that they are representing their cooperative, their school, community and their state.
Participating in Youth Tour is a privilege, and students must follow some simple rules while on the Tour. These rules will be in effect from their departure until their arrival back home at the end of the program.
Listed below are general rules which students are expected to follow. Students will receive a comprehensive list of rules, including proper dress code for each day, from their Youth Tour Director.
1. At no time are male students allowed to visit female students’ rooms, and vice versa.
2. Students are forbidden to possess and/or use alcoholic beverages.
3. Students are forbidden to possess and/or use drugs other than those prescribed for them by a doctor.
4. Students are forbidden to possess and/or use firearms or weapons of any kind.
5. Students are forbidden to possess and/or use any tobacco products.
6. Students are forbidden to abuse or deface facilities, and are forbidden to abuse, deface or steal property.
7. Students are forbidden to possess and/or use laser pointers of any kind.
8. Students will cooperate with their Tour Director, chaperones and FECA staff at all times.
9. Non-Youth Tour participants are forbidden from entering student rooms without prior consent from their chaperone (s).
10. Participants may not leave the hotel or the tour group for any reason unless accompanied by a chaperone or other qualified adult.
Infractions of any of these rules may result in the immediate dismissal of the student from the program. In the event of such a dismissal, the student’s parents or guardians will be notified, the student will be sent home at his or her own expense, and no payments will be refunded. Students will also be disqualified from WFEC’s local competition for the Washington, D.C. trip and any scholarships.
Compliance with Laws: Students are expected to comply with all local, state, and federal laws.
Daily Participation: Students are required to participate in all scheduled daily events unless excused by their Tour Director. Chaperones will check to ensure that all students are in their rooms.
Hotel Conduct: Students are expected to behave in a mature manner in the hotel. They should conduct themselves appropriately at all times by keeping down noise levels, allowing others to pass in halls, not blocking the lobby areas and not crowding the elevators. Students should remember the golden rule of treating other people and other people’s property with respect. Participants will be held financially responsible for any damage in their rooms.
Rules and policies will be strictly enforced. Students who do not wish to observe these rules should not participate in the Youth Tour program. Chaperones are expected to enforce these rules and policies for all students, whether or not a student is from their respective group.
