Choosing Your First Pole Heels in Wonderland đ â¨
A beginnerâs guide to stepping into your power (one clack at a time)
So youâre ready to try pole heelsâor at least curious enough to peek đ Welcome, babe. Pole heels arenât about being âextra.â Theyâre about support, strength, lines, and confidenceâand when chosen well, they actually help your dancing feel more stable, not scarier.
Letâs break it down.
đ¤ Why Do Pole Dancers Wear Heels?
Pole heels are designed for movement. Unlike street heels, they:
Improve posture and help you feel grounded
Lengthen lines and make shapes feel intentional
Add weight to support balance, spins, and floorwork
Boost confidence (immediately and unapologetically)
Theyâre tools for learningânot something you have to âearn.â
đ Our Beginner Recommendation: 7â Heels
At Wonderland, we suggest starting with a 7-inch heel. This height gives you:
A stable platform that distributes weight evenly
Better balance for spins and transitions
Support without feeling bulky or restrictive
In pole, the platform works with youâhelping you find control and flow.
đ Start Here: The ADORE Sandal
For your very first pair, we recommend beginning with the Pleaser ADORE sandal.
Why a sandal first?
It helps you build ankle strength and awareness
You learn how to articulate your feet and ankles
It encourages control and stability from the ground up
It translates beautifully to both pole and floorwork
We do not recommend starting with a boot. While boots offer extra support, they can mask ankle strength early on. Once you feel confident, stable, and comfy dancing in sandalsâthatâs the perfect time to add boots to your collection.
Think: foundation first, armor later â¨
đ¤ Pole Heels + Wonderland Classes
Classes marked with a heel shoe icon are heels classes
Heels are required for those offerings
You can rent heels in our lobby for $10 if youâre still exploring
đ Final Pep Talk
Your first pair of pole heels is about learning your body, not rushing into anything. Start with a 7â Adore sandal, give your ankles time to get strong, and trust the process. If you are unsure about what Heel to grab please email us at info@wonderlandpoledance.com and we will help or jump into Beginner Heel Flow to learn all the things.Â
Heels arenât the destinationâtheyâre a tool for the adventure!
