The faith community of St. Mary & Sons of Zebedee Parishes invites you to prepare for your Confirmation in our Catholic Faith. We want you to discover and enjoy the life our parish shares…the life of the Spirit. We care about you, respect you, and want you to be an active member of our Christian community living as a disciple of Jesus. You will receive support and understanding from our Church leaders along with a sponsor and your family to guide you. A covenant is a sacred contract between you and God. Your promise takes the form of your agreement to grow this year in your discipleship. Your sacred covenant is supported by God’s love, our parish’s love and guidance, and your choice. Your covenant cannot be broken unless you choose to break it. Should you choose to break any part of the contract, you have chosen to delay your reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation until such a time that you are ready to make a commitment.
In the presence of God, I solemnly promise that I will seriously prepare myself for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. I promise to do my best and learn about confirmation, its importance and relevance in my life. I agree to:
- Attend Mass each Sunday and holy day of obligation and actively participate in the Mass.
- Receive the sacraments of Eucharist and reconciliation often.
- Strive for greater maturity and accept more responsibility in my family, my church, and my community. Arrive a few minutes early, prepared with all materials.
- Complete all forms and requirements by their due dates.
- Active and consistent participation in small group class sessions, service activities and projects, as a sign of living out my Christian responsibility to love and serve others
- Complete Bishop Questionnaire requesting to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation
- Choose a sponsor who is a role model of the Catholic Faith & willing to take an active role in my journey toward Confirmation.
- I will participate in 2 activities with my sponsor outside of the class and invite my sponsor to one class.
- Choose a Confirmation (Saint) name and complete form.
- Participate in the Confirmation interviews/meetings
I will participate in all student Confirmation Classes/Service Outings.
- I will attend the Confirmation retreat.
- Completion of 30 credits of service ~ compiled from grades 9-11
Having clearly understood what is expected of me as I prepare for Confirmation, I sign this covenant in the presence of God and my parents as witnesses. I ask the help of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to assist me in living up to this agreement.
