Permit Requirements:*

• Inform someone where you are going and when you intend to return. Carry a form of communication with you. • Permits must be carried by the permit holder and are not transferable. • Access is to areas stated on the permit only. The permit does not provide access to private property including sand dunes. • Obey signage. • Be courteous to other forest users and adjoining landowners. • Access during daylight hours, unless specified on the permit. • Access may be restricted in periods of high fire danger. • Do not; disturb any archaeological or ecological sites, remove any ancient artifacts of any origin or any sand, shingle gravel or any other minerals of any description without permission. • Take your rubbish with you. Disposal of green waste containing invasive weeds is prohibited. • Hi-Vis jacket must be worn by the permit holder and those persons accompanying the permit holder. • The permit holder must comply with all reasonable directions issued by Summit Forests NZ Ltd.

Forest access will only be between the hours of 6am - 6pm. Call out after hours may incur a charge/revoking of permit.*

Hazards / Risks*

• The permit holder acknowledges that the forest is a place of potential hazards and shall take care in exercising this permit. • Hazards include road conditions (narrow roads, dust, washouts, blind corners, animals), large machinery, high noise levels, falling trees or branches, airborne chemicals (during spray operations), fire dams, bees/wasps, hunters, poison, and disorientation. • Do not enter operational areas without authorization. • Do not enter the forest during extreme fire danger conditions or during high wind events (>50kph).

Fires*

• Dial 111 if you see any fire in the forest. • The lighting of fires is prohibited. Take caution not to cause any fire. No smoking. • Any person causing any fire may be held liable by Summit Forests NZ Ltd for damages.

No ATVs, Quad bikes or motorbikes are to be used in the forest.*

Dogs:*

Pet dogs are to be kept under control or on a lead at all times. Hunting dogs must be trained in kiwi aversion if entering forests with kiwi present.

Property/Firewood*

Damage or removal of gates, fences, signs, equipment and/or trees is prohibited. This includes any type of firewood.

Vehicles*

• Drive with headlights on low beam. • Drive at a speed that suits the road conditions. The maximum permitted speed is 70km/hour. • Park off the road. Do not block or hinder access to any forest road or gate. • Keep to formed tracks and roads. • Vehicle details to be registered on the permit. • All vehicles must have current registration, warrant of fitness, and relevant certifications. • All drivers must have current licenses and carry a minimum of Third-Party Insurance.

Indemnity.*

• The permit holder agrees to enter the forest at their own risk and shall be solely responsible for those persons accompanying the permit holder. • The permit holder releases to the full extent permitted by law the company, and their employees and agents from all liabilities, fines, and demands of any kind that may arise out of any incident, accident, or injury occurring to any person or property in the exercise of this permit. • Summit Forests NZ Ltd makes no representation whatsoever as to the suitability of the forest for the purpose intended by the permit holder.

One permit will be issued per hunting party, one party one area. DO NOT assume you are the only people in the area.

Hi viz clothing to be worn at all times.

A copy of the permit will be carried on the permit holder at all times (either physically or electronically).

You will abide by the laws in relation to carrying and using a firearm.

All Hunting access will be closed from Oct 28th 2024. The Forest will Re-Open on 1 April 2025. This is our Fire Season.
