Honors Students, Welcome! This form allows the Honors College to know that you are ready to begin working on your Honors Capstone project. Please complete this form after you and your mentor have discussed your capstone project idea, research methodology, timeline for completion, and how your project will meet the seven Honors Capstone Learning Outcomes. Complete the Student Portion, including your signature, and then scroll to the BOTTOM of the entire form and push SUBMIT. (Remember that it is courteous to alert your capstone mentor in advance that you are submitting the form.) The JotForm will then be delivered to your mentor's Inbox with a subject line of "Honors Capstone Approval Needed".

Honors students must identify a UW faculty member to serve as their Honors Capstone mentor. If you wish to have another faculty member from within University of Wyoming who brings expertise related to your project, you can add them as a co-mentor. Please include their name, title and affiliation, and contact information below. Remember that co-mentorship requires that both mentors complete an initiation form as well as an evaluation form at the conclusion of your project. (If you have any questions or concerns about co-mentorship of capstone projects, please reach out to the Honors Capstone Coordinators at honorscapstone@uwyo.edu).
Learning Outcome 1: Students will define a question that their project will address, responding to a problem, concern or need. (Remember that the project can be scholarly, creative, service-oriented or entrepreneurial). What is your Honors Capstone question?
Learning Outcome 2: Students will develop a plan for carrying out the project that incorporates the following elements, as appropriate to the nature of the project: relevant skills, methodologies, bodies of knowledge, and field-specific or interdisciplinary conventions. Please describe below your methodology to investigate your question and your plan for carrying out your project.
Learning Outcome 3: Students will analyze and interpret the material in their project, whether this be data, evidence, creative output, etc. What are your plans for analyzing your capstone material?
Learning Outcome 4: Students will engage in a process of sharing work with their mentor/s, receiving feedback, and incorporating feedback in the development of the project. What are your plans, and your timeline, for sharing your work with your mentor?
Learning Outcome 5: Students will create a tangible product that demonstrates critical thinking and insight in responding to the initial question. Describe your capstone product and how this will address your initial question, problem, concern or need.
Learning Outcome 6: Students will communicate their project at an Honors-approved venue through an oral presentation addressing the nature and significance of the project, as well as its implications/impact. What are your plans at this point in time for presenting your capstone project?

Capstone Mentor Portion

The Honors College requires all capstone projects to be mentored by a UW faculty member. All UW faculty members are approved to serve as capstone mentors. Because the capstone project is defined flexibly, students may also identify an additional professional or expert from outside UW faculty ranks to serve as a "co-mentor" (i.e. industry experts, staff, graduate students, post docs). For all interested in serving as a capstone mentor or co-mentor, we ask you to review our capstone mentor page and to complete the following form.
