The foundation supports programs that are practical and directly benefit the hospitality industry. Of particular interest are efforts that apply rigorous academic research to solve practical hospitality issues. All grants are measured on the direct results of improved efficiency and efficacy for the hospitality industry.

Terms and Conditions
• Applications must be solely for research related to the advancement of the hospitality industry. (Other disciplines of study are ineligible).
• The research team agrees to keep open communication with the Timothy S.Y. Lam Foundation and provide information about the research project's progress when requested.
• The awarded funds are paid directly to the institution listed on your application. (Please ensure the information is accurate.)
• It is the responsibility of the applicant/research team to provide the correct mailing address for the department designated to receive the funds.
• Research teams are only eligible to win (2) TSYLF Hospitality Research Grant awards per project for up to $10,000 each award.
• Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Grant funding is dispersed in two payments. One payment will be made upon award approval, and the second will be disbursed once the research grant report has been submitted.

Media Release
I grant the Timothy S.Y. Lam Foundation permission to use my name or the name of my research team, associated institution, or other organizations' professional information and the use of quotes for publicity or educational purposes. I also grant the Timothy S.Y. Lam Foundation the right to edit, use, and reuse said products and information for nonprofit purposes, including use in print, on the internet, and in all other forms of media. I understand that all materials will remain the property of the Timothy S.Y. Lam Foundation, and I am not entitled to any compensation or payment for their use. I also hereby release the Timothy S.Y. Lam Foundation and its agents and employees from all claims, demands, and liabilities whatsoever in connection with the above.
Funding Guidelines

Letter of Recommendation/Support
Please have a hospitality industry partner or other professional colleague provide a letter of recommendation or support about how you/your team have already contributed to your community and the hospitality industry and why this project would be beneficial to the cordiality, growth, and development of hospitality service and education.
