NCSL 2021 Lifeguard Acknowledgement Form

Please review the NCSL Lifeguard Gudelines and acknowledge your compliance with each one below.

Note: Participation in the NCSL as a contracted lifeguard requires an agreement for each and every guideline listed below.

1. I understand that all information in regards to lifeguarding within the NCSL can be found on the league's website and have successfully accessed the site.*

2. I understand the NCSL requires that there are no less than two (2) certified guards on deck for any practice, meet, or other NCSL team managed pool event. If less than two guards are present, the event cannot commence, and the pool area must remain clear until both guards are on deck. There is no exception to this rule. *

3. I understand the NCSL requires that I am current with BOTH my Lifeguard AND CPR/AED Professional Rescurers Certifications in order to guard for the league. I also understand that regardless of expiration dates published on the certifications, Lifeguard certifications expire based on NYS laws. Lifeguard certifications are valid for 2 years after issue date. CPR/AED certifications are valid for 1 year after issue date. *

4. I understand that safety is the primary concern of the NCSL. Per league rules, the lifeguard is the absolute authority in determining whether we have a safe environment for our swimmers *

5. I understand that lifeguards must be aware of the location of emergency exits, and first-aid equipment in each and every site that they guard. *

6. I understand that in the event of an incident, the NCSL requires the completion of an incident report. Lifeguards are required to assist NCSL team representatives in completing this form. *

7. I understand that lifeguards must remain alert at all times with attention focused on the pool. Walking the deck or sitting in appropriate lifeguard chairs is allowed. Absolutely no sleeping, cell phones, reading or doing homework, headsets/music devices, etc., allowed on deck. Failure to comply with any of these guidelines will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination from league eligibility. *

8. I understand that if a lifeguard is unable to cover a shift they have been scheduled for, it is their responsibility to arrange for a substitute from the league master list of approved lifeguards. Failure to do so will result in removal from all future practice and meet schedules. *

9. I understand that lifeguards are required to always wear appropriate swim attire and must wear a league issued lifeguard T-shirt. Lifeguards are also required to always have their league issued whistle in their possession while working for the NCSL. *

10. I understand that NCSL rules require that a lifeguard be the first person to enter the pool deck area, and the last person to leave. Lifeguards should ever leave the pool area until all swimmers, coaches, and spectators have cleared the pool area. Lifeguards must be verbally be dismissed from their scheduled meet or practice by an NCSL representative, either head coach or team coordinator. *

11. I understand that lifeguards will be paid for all time from arrival until departure, rounded to the next 15-minute increment. *

12. I understand that lifeguards will be required to sign in and out at the scorer’s table for all meet’s worked. *
