Step Up to Independence

Are you a family experiencing a housing crisis?

Save the Family’s Step Up to Independence Program is a pilot program designed to offer a variety of programs aimed at empowering families to overcome homelessness, become financially stable and achieve self-sufficiency.

Step Up is a short-term program that helps families be able to access safe housing, access to supportive services, and substantially build their family’s savings to become financially independent.

If you are interested in our program, scroll down to see all eligibility criteria. Housing Program Eligibility (you MUST meet ALL criteria below to qualify for the program):

1) Qualify as homeless, at risk of homelessness or fleeing domestic violence

2) One adult must be of legal age to sign a lease – 18 years old or older

3) Have legal custody of at least one minor child living with you

4) Currently reside in Arizona

5) Legal citizenship or possession of paperwork authorizing work in the United States

6) *****All adults in the program MUST have some form of full-time employment-earning below 60% of Area Median Income throughout the eligibility and application process and at time of move in. Documentation will be required. Cash jobs are not accepted.*****

7) Be drug and alcohol free and able to pass a drug test (urine)

8) Not have been charged with or committed any sex offense
