The Park Shinja Cup changes completely. The size of the participating team and the prize money have increased. Beyond finding promising players, a large number of key players are expected to participate, raising the status of the tournament to the fullest.
The Korea Women's Basketball Federation (WKBL) announced the opening of the 2023 Woori Bank Park Shin-ja Cup on the 31st. This year's competition will be held at Cheongju Gymnasium from the 26th of next month to September 3rd. The Park Shin-ja Cup was established in 2015 after Mrs. Park Shin-ja, the leading figure in the 1967 World Championships.
First of all, the size of the participating team has increased. Ten teams, the most ever, will compete. In addition to six WKBL clubs, four overseas invited teams, including Japan, Australia, and the Philippines, have been added. Since the establishment of the Park Shin-ja Cup in 2015, the number of overseas teams has been the highest.
In Japan, Eneos Sunflower, who has won the Japanese W League for 11 consecutive years, and Toyota Antelope, the runner-up in last season's regular league and championship games, will participate. Bendigo Spirit, a member of the Australian WNBL, and the Philippine women's basketball team will also visit Korea.
The name and emblem of the competition have also been changed. The name of the tournament, which has been the "Park Shin-ja Cup Summer League," will be changed to the Park Shin-ja Cup from this year. If it has been close to finding promising players, it will be held in the form of an international competition in which a large number of key players from each team participants from each team participate. Each team's baton is also held by coaches like in the regular league.
The competition will be divided into two groups to play in the preliminary round, and the first and second places in each group will advance to the semifinals to determine the winning team. The prize money also increased significantly from 10 million won to 30 million won. 토토사이트
Admission to the competition is possible through separate ticket reservations, and all seats are operated as reserved seats. In the previous competition, spectators were allowed to enter for free without reservation of tickets. Information related to ticket reservation will be announced separately later.
A WKBL official said, "We plan to upgrade the Park Shin-ja Cup to an international competition in the future and continue to expand the size of the competition to strengthen international competitiveness."
