• Faith Formation Registration 2026-2027

    Faith Formation Registration 2026-2027
  • As your child's primary teacher in faith, you are asked to make a special commitment to their formation. This commitment begins with attending Sunday Mass each week and Holy Day of Obligation, where our faith is lived most fully as a family. Children learn by watching their parents actively practice the faith, and regular Mass attendance shows them that worshipping God is a priority. Your commitment also includes bringing your child consistently to weekly Faith Formation classes, helping them participate with respectful behavior, and partnering with their catechist by reinforcing lessons at home and supporting the program as you are able.

In cases of inclement weather, if Sunday Mass is held, Faith Formation will also take place.  Dates are subject to change due to parish events.  Sacramental preparation dates will be communicated separately.

  • Sunday Schedule Overview

  • Faith Formation begins after the 10:00 AM Mass.

Families gather in the parish hall before Opening Prayer at 11:10 AM.  Parents are expected to accompany their children for Opening Prayer, as this shared prayer time helps children feel supported and reminds them that faith formation is a family commitment.

    Schedule:

    10:00 AM - Mass
    11:10 AM - Opening Prayer
    11:15 AM - 12:15 PM -- Classroom instruction
12:20 AM - Closing Prayer and dismissal

Parents are asked to return to the parish hall before 12:20 PM for Closing Prayer.  Dismissal follows immediately after prayer, with the goal of concluding before 12:30 PM.

  • Absence Policy

  • Parents are asked to contact the DRE, Cathy Taylor, directly by email if they would like their child's absence to be marked as excused.

Verbal messages, even if given in person or to your child's catechist, may not reach the DRE or may be forgotten.

Excused absences include illness, family hardship, or evacuation due to emergency orders.

Absences for vacations, sports, or recreation are not excused.

Absences will remain unexcused unless a parent contacts the DRE directly to request otherwise.  If you are okay with your child's absence remaining unexcused, there is no need to contact the DRE.

Please be aware that, according to the diocesan policy, excessive absences are defined as five or more class hours in any given year, or more than two class hours in a sacramental year, which includes grades 1, 2, 7, and 8.

  • Electronic Devices

  • Students should not use electronic devices during Faith Formation unless specifically directed by their catechist.  This includes phones, tablets, gaming devices, headphones, and earbuds.

Electronic devices should be put away during Opening Prayer, class time, and Closing Prayer.  Headphones and earbuds should not be worn during these times.

If a student needs a device for medical, accessibility, or assistive communication reasons, such as text-to-speech or another tool used to communicate with those present, please let the DRE know.

  • Safe Environment Education

  • In response to the U.S. Bishops’ Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, our parish uses the Circle of Grace program for safe environment education.

This diocesan-approved curriculum is designed to be integrated with religious education and supports the formation of the whole child—mind, body, and spirit.

Circle of Grace teaches children that they live within a sacred space—their “circle of grace”—where God is present and where they are called to respect themselves and others.

The program helps children recognize safe and unsafe situations, set healthy boundaries, and know how to seek help when needed.

Unlike some safety programs that focus only on warning signs and dangers, Circle of Grace is rooted in our Catholic faith and emphasizes dignity, relationship, and God’s constant presence.

The Circle of Grace program will be presented to all K–8 Faith Formation students on October 11, 2026, during their regularly scheduled classes.

Important Note for Divorced/Separated Parents of Unbaptized Children:

In accordance with diocesan policy, if a child is not baptized as a Catholic and their parents are divorced or separated, the enrolling parent must either (1) obtain written consent from the non-enrolling parent or legal guardian, or (2) provide legal documentation showing sole authority to enroll the child (such as a court order). This ensures that all legal guardians are aware of and in agreement with your child's religious formation. If this applies to your family, you will be contacted with instructions for submitting the required documentation.
