Responsibilities: Behavior Intervention
BI’s are responsible for all aspects of the day to day care in the client’s home. The Intervention component of the BI role is what makes their position unique. This intervention includes, but is not limited to, complex management of these behaviors in the following ways:
- identifying unique behaviors and executing immediate strategies to guide and teach the client self-regulation and behavior management (in accordance with the behavior support plan);
- identifying escalation in unique behaviors and executing immediate intervention per the behavior support plans;
- identifying immediate risks to the client associated with unique behaviors being demonstrated and executing the defined strategies in the client safety plan;
- identifying immediate risks to staff and property and executing defined strategies in the staff safety plan (removing self and others from immediate area);
- identifying opportunities for de-escalation and making short-term interventions to guide and teach the client.
