During the first twelve (12) calendar months following retirement, Florida Retirement System (FRS) retirees can volunteer for up to 20% of their hours worked while employed or before retirement. All first-year FRS retirees must keep track of their volunteer hours and records of volunteering per Chapter 121, Florida Statutes. First-year retirees cannot perform the same duties as employees, and there is no agreement or guarantee of any post-retirement employment or benefits provided by Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
