Welcome to the envoyatHome Assessment Tool
In only a few minutes you'll be ready to order your envoyatHome Digital Caregiver. Each envoyatHome subscription requires a Standard Equipment Package. To enable optional features or for very large residences, additional equipment may be required. Use this simple assessment tool to help determine whether the standard equipment package is sufficient. Just answer a few questions about your care recipient, their home, and the risk behaviors for discovery and monitoring. At the end of the assessment, you'll have all the information required to place your order.
Internet Availability
envoyatHome requires standard residential internet service. Wi-Fi is not required. The envoyatHome internet hub plugs into any available port on the home router. You'll want to be sure the router is accessible and has an available port.

Care Recipient Residence Assessment
Now that we understand more about our care recipient, let's assess their residence and living spaces for envoyatHome equipment. Use the Care Concerns information as a guide. For example, if elopement is a concern, perhaps every exterior door should be monitored whether it's the primary entry/exit or not. For a care recipient who can't remember to eat dinner, perhaps the fridge door should be monitored. Keeping Care Concerns in mind is an important part of the process. The envoyatHome Standard Equipment Package is delivered with 1 door/contact sensor and 7 motion sensors, sufficient for a typical application. Extra features or larger homes require additional sensors. Please note that envoyatHome equipment is neither rated nor warrantied for outdoor use or in applications exposed to elements like wind, rain, humidity, heat, cold, insects, dust, dirt, or pests.
A Note to Caregivers
The equipment question we get most often is "If they NEVER use that room (or door or bathroom) does it need a sensor?" The answer? It depends. If a room is truly inaccessible, for example, the door is locked and the key is offsite, then a sensor is not necessary. If a multi-use space is so small that sensor signals would overlap, then only one sensor is required. What a Caregiver should NEVER depend on? Care Recipient compliance! envoyatHome behavior data prove that "Do Not Enter" requests go unheeded almost 100% of the time. So make sure to have every staircase, every bathroom, and every usable exterior door covered, even if the Care Recipient is instructed not to use it.
Doors
How many exterior doors does the care recipient use? Please count the front door, back door, door to the garage, sliders to the patio or balcony, etc. If two doors are separated by a vestibule, count the exterior door only.
envoyatHome can monitor refrigerator or cabinet doors to confirm access (or not) to food, water, or important health items. We can also monitor for security, for example, when a drawer holding a valuable shouldn't open during caregiver working hours. These features require optional sensors at an additional cost. How many fridge doors/cabinets/drawers will be monitored?
Interior Spaces
envoyatHome equipment is assigned to both rooms and spaces within a room. In an open concept layout, for example, one room may provide multiple spaces like an eating area and a lounging/reading/tv watching area. A bedroom may have a sleeping area and a sitting area. We expect different behavior in an eating area as opposed to a tv watching area, therefore we consider them different spaces even when located in the same room.
How many bedrooms are in the residence? If the primary bedroom has an alcove or attached space like a reading nook or desk area, add +1.
How many bathrooms are in the residence, including powder rooms?
Please count the common rooms such as the kitchen, living room, family room, den, or great room. If a room is multifunctional, for example a studio apartment or an open concept floor plan, count each functional space separately. A functional space may be a cooking/eating area, lounging/reading/tv area, or work/desk area.
Some homes have very long hallways, for example, longer than 10 ft. Please note the number of long, enclosed hallways, if any.
If a home has multiple levels connected by staircases, please enter the number of staircases below. Omit one or two step transitions between rooms as well as landings.
Count any additional rooms or spaces where a care recipient would spend more than 15 contiguous minutes such as a sunroom, sitting room, sewing room, craft room, workshop, hobby room, laundry room, or office.
Exterior Spaces
Sensors are neither rated nor warrantied for exterior applications or areas exposed to elements like wind, rain, humidity, heat, cold, insects, dust, dirt, or pests. envoyatHome does not recommend sensor placement in exterior locations.
Home Environment Monitoring
The home environment is an important part of care recipient safety. envoyatHome can monitor interior temperature, notifying a caregiver, for example, if a bedroom becomes dangerously hot or cold in the middle of the night. Moisture sensors placed by a water heater or a window can notify a caregiver of a leak. envoyatHome can support a garage door sensor, monitoring whether a garage door is up/open or down/closed - an essential for a forgetful care recipient. These features are provided through optional sensors available at time of order.
For Very Large or Complex Home Layouts
For very large homes or installations where the router is not centrally located, network signals can be weak or unavailable. To address this issue, envoyatHome recommends an inexpensive device called a Range Extender. A range extender is optional equipment available at time of order for an additional cost. A range extender can be ordered later, for example If signal weakness is discovered at time of installation.
