Decolonize First: Nuu-chah-nulth
Online Community Learning Circles
co-hosted by Literacy Alberni and Alberni Clayoquot Health Network
Ready to expand your decolonial vocabulary and practices in a community cohort?
This four-week online series on Decolonize First, a liberating guide & workbook for peeling back the layers of neocolonialism, will contribute to growing our capacity to consider the differences and nuances of what colonized and decolonized processes look like in our lives, in our work and in our community. In growing our consciousness and awareness of these patterns, through our learning and unlearning we can better create alternative approaches based in wholeness, healing and reducing harm in the ways we work alongside equity-denied communities.
Each session features deep-dive teachings and creative interactive opportunities including small groups and solo workbook time to apply the concepts to your work and context. You’ll also meet Indigenous changemakers, like workbook designer Ta7talíya Michelle Nahanee, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, who will drop in to share decolonial pep talks that shine more light on how Decolonizing First looks in real life settings.
We have two cohorts being offered in 2023:
