  • Qualifications / Requirements & Procedures

    1. Applicant must submit a complete Membership Application, a copy of their Brevard County Business Tax Receipt (BCBTR). If the Applicant does not have a BCBTR then they must provide a copy of their City Tax Receipt in the interim and a $25 Application Fee. The Applicant must then acquire a BCBTR from the County and present that before they can be voted in. Once all items have been completed, if the category is currently full, applicants can be placed on a waitlist for category opening.
    2. We process membership applications twice a year (typically in spring and fall). Once the above items have been received, the Applicant will be invited to introduce themselves and their business in person, at a meeting. If applicant meets all bylaw requirements and receives a majority vote at the following meeting they become a full active member when they promptly pay their dues (either full dues if fall for following year, or prorated dues for spring).
    3. Applicants must have a valid Florida Annual Resale Certificate for Sales Tax in either his or her personal or business name, if such a certificate is required in the State of Florida.
    4. Applicants must have and maintain any licenses required by the State of Florida, Brevard County, or any Municipality.
    5. Applicants must have and maintain a place of business in Brevard County.
    6. Applicants must sell a product or service directly to brides.
    7. Applicants must have a valid Brevard County Business Tax Receipt (24) consecutive months prior to the application date. If the applicant does not have this at the time the application was submitted, but has submitted their City Tax Receipt with their application, they will have two weeks from the date of the BWA General Meeting they attend to submit the BCBTR. This can be acquired from the Brevard County Tax Collector in Titusville. This License must be maintained to retain membership in the BWA.
    8. Membership allows you to advertise your entire business under one name even if some aspects of your business are outside of the main category you are listed under. IE: if you are a florist and rent tuxedos and want to display both products/services at our shows you can but you only get one listing on the BWA website or other official documents . Additional listings are available for an additional fee set by the board (so if you wanted a listing on website for tuxedos and flowers you would pay an additional fee, but if just to have both at your booth or to email out after shows no additional fee).
    9. Applicants must be sponsored by an active member of the BWA.
    10. Members should plan to have a representative attend the majority (1 more than half) of all meetings (social, educational, and business meetings) per year and all bridal shows during the year as a part of maintaining membership. Members should also plan on volunteering for a committee and contributing through donations of time and/or products/services (we are volunteer led and all members help run organization).
