The training program employs the trainee as a salon assistant for the duration of their pathway length. Salon assistants will be employed at an hourly rate. Salon assistants are expected to work 25-35 hours per week.

Duties of the salon assistant include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Directly assisting Larella Ellsworth and other stylists of Tigerlily Salon with clients and hair services. This includes resetting hair stations, washing and blow drying clients, sweeping hair, foiling, and mixing color.
- Assisting in salon maintence and cleanliness in tangent with the front desk, this includes sweeping, taking out trash, washing color bowls, washing shampoo sinks, stocking supplies and amenities, and weekly deep cleaning duties.
- Participating in educational videos and coursework.
- Taking on clients and performing hair services on the floor during a trial period before completion of program.
