Foundation Governor Nomination Form

To be used for new nominations and re-appointment nominations, where the Diocesan Board of Education (DBE) are the appointing body.
Thank you for nominating an individual for appointment as a Foundation Governor at a Diocese of Leeds Church of England school.

This form is the first step in the appointment process. Once we have received and reviewed your nomination, we will contact the nominee directly and invite them to complete an application form.

Before you begin, please ensure that you have the following information available:
- The nominee's full name.
- The nominee's email address.
- Details of who the nominee is replacing, if applicable.
- A brief explanation of why you believe the nominee would make an effective Foundation Governor.
If you are unsure who the appointing body should be, please refer to the school's current Instrument of Government.

Once your nomination has been received, it will be reviewed by the Diocese. If approved to proceed, an application form will be sent directly to the nominee. Following consideration of the completed application, both the nominee and nominator will be informed of the outcome.

We will look for evdience that training and induction has taken place as part of our review. Reappointments are not automatic.

Has a skills audit of the governing board been conducted?
We recommend that a skills audit takes place regularly. The skills audit helps the board to identify the skills it currently has in possession, and where it might be lacking. The recruitment of new governors provides an opportunity to address gaps.

In nominating this applicant you need to be sure that they are adding value to the skill set of the board.
