    Youth Tour 2026

    July 13th - 19th
  • KEC will send two high school juniors on an all-expense paid trip to our Nation’s Capital in June. Others from across Oklahoma and the nation will also join these students. It is a fun-filled, exciting, and educational week.

The trip starts with orientation in Oklahoma City at the state capitol, where everyone meets and gets to know one another. Upon arriving in Washington D.C., the capital tour includes days filled with sightseeing, a riverboat trip on the Potomac, and lunch with Oklahoma's Congressional delegation.

Don't miss out! The application deadline for this incredible opportunity is January 9, 2026.

    YOU can make a difference!
Oklahoma Youth Tour gives students a chance to see our government up close.
Being an active constituent is an important civic duty!

    CONTEST REQUIREMENTS:
Electric cooperatives are grounded on 7 Cooperative Principles that guide each and everything they do. Please choose one of the 7 to write about, explain why you chose that principle and what it mean.

You will upload a copy of your letter with this application.
Letters will be judged on the following:
    • Knowledge of the subject - 40%
    • Originality - 20%
    • Composition - 20%
    • Grammar and Neatness - 20%

The top ten student letters submitted will advance to the interview portion of the contest. Kiamichi Electric will select two students to attend the Youth Tour, and the remaining three will be alternates should students not attend.
This contest is open to all 11th-grade students in the Kiamichi Electric Cooperative service territory.

2025 Oklahoma Youth Tour Cancellation Reimbursement Policy

Students selected and sponsored by Oklahoma’s electric
cooperatives are expected to participate in required
preparatory activities related to Oklahoma Your Tour and
the full duration of the student program, including group
travel to and from Washington, D.C. The student
experience has a program value of $3,500 per participant.
    While cancellations are unfortunate, cancellations
received/processed 60-days prior to the day of registration
are appreciated and needed to allow cooperatives to find
    alternate student participants.

    Families of selected
students who cancel less than 60-days prior to the day of
registration, may be responsible for reimbursing the
sponsoring cooperative up to 50% of the program value.
No shows and families of selected students failing to
notify their sponsoring cooperative of non-participation, may be held responsible for reimbursing 100% of the program value.
