It has been said "You miss 100% of the targets you do not aim for."
In this exercise, our task is to clearly define 1 to 3 specific goals for your system that will become the focus of your efforts.
These will be SMART goals (family version).
Specific: Everyone understands.
Measurable: We know when are at goal and we know when we are off goal.
Achievable: We can do this.
Relevant: This matters to us.
Team-based: We're all in this together!
To accomplish this, first think about and clearly describe something that you want to change. Then, describe as clearly as you can what you want change to look like. Keep it to one or two things you want to change and remember to focus on your family system rather than on an individual.
You can discuss this with your family members during the week if you wish, but it is important that each person be able to describe how they would want to see change even if different members want different things. We will explore these together in the next session.
