The Jurying Process
In order to be considered for representation, artists must currently live within 40 miles of Prairie du Sac, WI.
A River Arts on Water panel consisting of the gallery’s two volunteer Curators (also artists represented at the gallery) and the Exhibition and Education Manager. The panel’s decision about whom to invite is based on artistic merit, mastery of style and diversity of approach. Acceptance is also subject to the gallery’s current space and needs. You are encouraged to look at the artists we currently represent.
Applications are reviewed about twice a year, but applications are taken on a rolling basis.
Special consideration will be given to work made by BIPOC or First Nations artists. Ideal candidates make work that reflects the local culture of the Sauk Prairie area and/or Wisconsin.
Particular media of interest, but not limited to: Jewelry, functional woodworking, glass sculpture, and beading.
Required Application Materials
Applicants should submit:
- Up to five digital images of artist’s work. These images should be representative of the type of work the artist creates, but don’t necessarily have to be the same pieces the gallery would display.
- Information about each piece (title, retail price, media, presentation size, and price)
Artist’s full contact information (address, phone, email, website/online portfolio)
CV/Artist Biography/Artist Statement
River Arts Inc. takes applications for representation on a rolling basis. Our curation committee meets roughly twice a year to evaluate applications. Acceptance varies and is highly influenced by the needs of the gallery and the space available.
Additional Information:
Exhibit-ready artwork is required for inclusion (wire hangers only).
The gallery is commission-based at a rate of 35%. Consistent pricing of artworks is required. Contact a gallery staff member for more information about commission and pricing.
There is no requirement to work at the gallery as a condition of your representation, however volunteers are always welcome.
