    • What: One team of 5 American and 5 Japanese student associations will compete against another team in speed and creativity! Post your college themed onigiri photo on Instagram then tag a school from a participating college list in Japan on your team. In turn, a college in Japan will tag another college in the U.S. The posting and tagging will continue until all colleges on your team list have been tagged.
      1. The first team to complete the relay WINS the relay race.
      2. The most creative photo from all schools that participate will also be selected!

    • Who: Universities in the U.S. with Japanese Clubs, Japanese American Student Associations, International Clubs, etc. will be on a team with clubs and organizations of students in Japan.

    • Team:There will be two teams a RED(赤) team and a WHITE(白) team comprised of 5 US student organizations and 5 Japanese student organizations each. Once the list is finalized for each team, we (TFT) will send the contact information of team members in case you would like to plan a posting schedule with other schools. We will also decide which Japanese organization starts the Baton Touch for each team.

    • Preparation (Gathering and Photo taking): Students are encouraged to plan an Onigiri Action casual gathering or event at their school. Please take several photos at the event to use later when your organization is tagged on social media to post for the relay. We also suggest using fun props when possible in your photos that can be found in the Download Materials Section of our Onigiri Action website.

      • College theme: All onigiri photos should be related to your university in some way. They can use your school colors, be in the shape of your school logo or mascot, be taken at one of the most well-known places on your campus, or highlight an aspect of your school (for instance, if your school is known for medical studies, the onigiri could be shaped like a doctor).
      • Events can be onigiri making/cooking together OR onigiri craft related (knitting onigiri, drawing and coloring onigiri, painting onigiri, etc.)
      • Try to have 2-5 people per photo with at least one photo of all participants from your gathering or event.

    • Relay: **More details about the Relay Dates and Times will be posted soon**  The first pre-selected Japanese organization from each team will first post their pictures with a caption and tag a school in the U.S. from their team list. The school in the U.S. then has to respond and post their pictures and caption and tag a Japan school on the team list. This pattern will continue until all schools have been tagged on each team! The 10th college, last school should tag us (@tablefor2_usa)!

      • Post rule: When you post, tag the next school, add #OnigiriAction, #OnigiriBatonTouch and ask one question to learn more about another college in your post when tagging them!
(Ex: What is your college town known for? What foods are popular in your college town? What does your club love about Japan(/the US)?)

        We will have two winners:
      • The first team to complete the relay WINS the relay race.
      • The most creative photo from all schools that participate will also be selected!

We will highlight the winners on our social media channels!
