Instructions for Completing the Application

Read carefully and think about your answers. Remember that the Admissions Committee reviews many applications each year. Handwritten applications are not accepted and incomplete application packets cannot be reviewed. Your portfolio is complete when it contains all of the components listed below.

Do not attach resumes or other materials. Remember that the number of activities listed is generally less significant than the quality and commitment. Consider listing activities that show leadership, creativity, and a sense of responsibility in the community.

Answer the essay questions carefully and thoughtfully. These questions allow the Admissions Committee to gauge both your critical thinking and writing skills. The committee is interested only in your best work--and only your work. AI submissions will NOT be accepted.

Submit the Honors College application. By hitting the “submit” button below, your application and writing samples will be automatically emailed to the Honors College directors. Please do not submit your application until you have completed it. You may email Dr. Villarroel or Dr. Rogers-Sharer using their contact information in the next instructions if you have any questions or wish to send further content.

Have 3 letters of recommendation emailed to the Honors College directors. Letters of recommendation MUST be emailed by the RECOMMENDER to BOTH Honors College Directors. Recommendation letters emailed from applicants will NOT be accepted. Your application is NOT considered complete until all 3 letters of recommendation are received. These do not need to be all academic recommendations, although academic references are given preference.

Email your High School and all College (if applicable) transcripts to BOTH Honors College Directors: Transcripts do NOT need to be official. However, your application is NOT considered complete until the Honors College Directors receive all transcripts.

Deadline: Application review and admission is a rolling process. Completed AND eligible applications received in the Fall semester will be given consideration for potential openings in the Spring semester OR will be held for the following Fall semester if no Spring opening are available. Priority consideration is given to all eligible applications completed by April 1.
However, applications will be considered through the spring and summer. Late applications will be considered based on available space. Students who complete the online application will be notified no later than end of April, informing them of the status of their application (i.e. items missing or completed). Notification of application status will be sent via the email provided in the application; we cannot answer "status" requests by phone.
Your application is complete when we have received:
- Your online application, answering all questions and submitting BOTH essays either within the online application or via email;
- Your 3 letters of recommendation; and
- All your transcripts both from High School and College(s).
Once your application is considered complete, it will be reviewed for eligibility. Eligibility does NOT guarantee acceptance, as spots are limited. However, eligible applications will transition to the interviewing phase. These applicants will be notified via email of the next steps for consideration of acceptance into the Honors College.
