3 vital points you need to know about this test
1 This test
It based on a well known validated research tool. There are more sophisticated tests but they are more complex to interpret and cost to administer.
The test is just a guide and a starting point. On its own it is not "diagnostic". In fact there is no single diagnostic test for burnout.
The test is quick but can give a good indication of the presence of burnout... or not. Knowing your score can thus be an invaluable part of an early phase preparation for facing burnout.
2 Home life
As you will have noted - this test does not include references to home life - not because this is irrelevant in burnout (far from it) but because the test has been validated only in work environments. Contributing factors to burnout include every aspect of life. Its just that the formal definitions currently only include work. (We don't agree with this).
3 Recognition of burnout
The World Health Organisation in its wisdom says burnout occurs "only" at work. But what do they know - it took them from 1974 to 2019 to put it on their classification - but it is good they have recognised it officially. We see carers, students, athletes and parents with burnout and so we consider it is not necessary to be officially working/earning full time to get burnout.
But this all helps to explain why there are no homelife questions.
